I live on the outskirts of Brighton and when it was my dd1's christening we paid for our overflow guests to stay at Windhaven Guest House on the seafront in Rottingdean (which is about 10 mins drive Eastwards along the seafront road). Tel: 01273-302595. Our friends liked it. Had a nice seaview room and it's up on the cliff top on the main coast road. The address is 107 Marine Drive, Rottingdean

I'e stayed in strawberry fields - fine and basic and there's a really big family room on the ground floor with bunk beds in. (not sure if 4 bigger children can fit in, we had 3 and a baby).

Beetrootccio · 31/03/2007 19:09

my friends stayed in a nice on in Hove, cheaper and they walked into Brighton - look for places with parking otherwise it's expensive in Brighton during the day etc

Beetrootccio · 31/03/2007 20:05

oh hello cargirl -might well be - even if just for a long weekend?

or the weekend of the 14th - 16th April?

try The New Steine hotel (www.newsteinehotel.com) - i'e heard it's ok, and have seen it from the outside, but haven't stayed there.

I don't think Strawberry fields was that expensive when I stayed there, and certainly didn't get salmon or bagels

Beetrootccio · 31/03/2007 20:09

I have emailed them.

thanks

Pop in and view our location on the way to Heathrow later!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're close to Thorpe park & Chessingtons and London - but if your dc like music things I do recommend going to watch something at Reading Hexagon and the acoustics are fab. Nothing music-worthy around here though unless you want to make use of dds elecrtic drum kit! Oh and you'd have to put up with our cat

Beetrootccio · 31/03/2007 20:14

how far are you off the M4?

OP posts:
CarGirl · 31/03/2007 20:16

We literally are j11 of the M25 so sandwiched between the A3 and M3 - lucky u - not! So M4 is about 3 junctions along!

noonar · 01/04/2007 19:52

have you considered travelodge or quality hotel (v central) cheap, but obv no character.

the trouble with us brightonians, beetie, is that we live here, so dont have much call for b & b!

Beetrootccio · 01/04/2007 20:33

noonar - I know the good b&S's around me as I may need ort recomend them to mates!

Travel lodge etc is silly money when you are klooking at more than jsut your normal double room. And we willonly be there for sleeping as will be with mates the rest of the time

treacletart · 02/04/2007 14:03

Many many moons ago there were a couple of rooms above a nice coffee shop right in the centre of town that I used to book for colleagues. I've rung them and they still do B&B but I've no idea about costs etc - they used to be fairly basic but very reasonable though (and they're in a fab position!):

Puccinos 1 Bartholomews, BRIGHTON. Tel: 01273 204656

OP posts:
noonar · 03/04/2007 18:14

treacle, was it the grapevine?

treacletart · 03/04/2007 18:48

I cant remember what it used to be before it was Puccino's Its been Puccinos for about 10 years I reckon - might well have been the Grapevine - It's on the next block down towards East Street from what in the very old days was the Frock and Jacket or Crusts wine bar and is now Cafe Rouge.
