I'm looking for somewhere special for my dh 40th ....it will be 2 of us and 2 dc (8 &5)

Can anyone recommend a extra special hotel....budget is flexible but needs to be in UK.

Difficult to find somewhere at that time of year with things to do with dc as well....

Thanks in advance

Liverpool has tons to do for kids that age - Museum of Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Tate, World Museum, football stadium tours...

Lots of nice hotels and places to eat too.

Funny we were in Liverpool last weekend! Yes really great
....anywhere similar with a fancy hotel would be great.....
Or if anyone has stayed in a hotel/lodge that's a little bit special/different...ideas welcome

The sunborn yacht hotel in London is good fun and a little different, right near the cable car that goes over the Thames which is also good fun. They have big family rooms too which are surprisingly reasonable for a London hotel.

2 children go free!

Belfast? Fitzwilliam Hotel is nice.

hoping2016 · 18/08/2017 22:15

Like sunborn idea...exactly sort of thing I'm looking for.... anyone else with ideas?

We need to be in England so unfortunately Belfast doesn't work for us.

Calcot manor in cotswolds is lovely!! Fantastic for children.

iismum · 02/09/2017 06:39

Crieff Hydro? Millions of things to do, and you get free childcare (which my kids love) so you can do some activities / chill out on your own if you want as well as having family time.

hoping2016 · 02/09/2017 09:47

Crieff hydro looks fab!! I would have booked this instead of bluestone this yr for our summer holiday if I'd known about it....bluestone was good but it was our 3rd visit so bit been there done that

I'll check out calcot manor...keep the ideas coming please...

Did you check out the Woodland lodges ? They have the spa , grounds and hotel restaurant facilities 👍

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoor · 02/09/2017 12:14

I haven't stayed there but it is really lovely and not in a posh pretentious way, just very welcoming, really good food, wonderful spa. We eat at the gumstool inn a couple if times a year and I dream about their triple baked cheese souffle.
£550 is a lot though.....

My friends hsve raved about the Kingham Plough but no idea if they allow children.

There is also a hotel in Worcestershire which is luxurious and v geared towards children - I'll see if I can find link although it might be a bit far??

The other place we have stayed that was just lively fir the children was the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. They do a childrens teatime, leave cookies and milk in the room at bedtime and give then a seaside goody bag on arrival.
