Coastal villages with facilities

Have just returned from Norfolk and really liked a village called Mundesley, it had a lovely beach and decent shops (butcher with deli, greengrocers and post office).
I'd like to book a cottage here for next year but nothing is quite suitable or available.
Would love to hear of other places similar to this so we can arrive, dump our things and not use the car very much after that.

Would second Abersoch. Porthmadog is lovely too!

They look good but a bit too far to drive for us, anything like this in Norfolk I've missed, Lincolnshire, Hampshire, Essex, Dorset...

Was going to say Mundesley Grin

Wells in Norfolk (think full name is Wells-next-the-sea) - large village / small town, massive sandy beach
Brancaster - just about has your list I think
Burnham Market - not right on the sea, but several lovely beaches in a 3 - 4 mile radius and has all facilities
Lots of North Norfolk options I think, especially if you swap 'never' use car for 'hardly ever'

I also know lots of options in north east Scotland or Fife, but sounds like that a bit far for you?

hugoagogo · 14/08/2017 20:18

Have you tried ketts country cottages?

LtGreggs · 14/08/2017 20:21

For North Norfolk - Sowerby's cottages (naice) or Owners Direct (all levels!)

OldJoseph · 14/08/2017 20:25

Thanks for your replies, yes Scotland is too far. Making a detour to collect ddad as it is. I know the driving will fall to dh and that's why I'm trying to find somewhere near him in Peterborough. Brancaster is lovely for example but I'm not sure if it has shops that aren't artisan.

It's a long time since I have been to Happisburgh, I suppose all the small shops have closed down? Sad

OldJoseph · 14/08/2017 20:46

I'll look at Happisburgh...The shops in Mundesley were great, most closed Saturday afternoon, can't remember the last time I was in a place where the shops closed on Saturday.

Does it have to be a village? Probably easier to find amenities in a small town.
My suggestions are Walberswick or Winterton (but if it was me I would go to a town - Southwold, Cromer or Wells for me.)

OldJoseph · 14/08/2017 21:31

clem no it doesn't have to be a village, I was just taken with the one I was in and wondered if there was something similar nearby with availability when we would like it for 6 people (but 4 bedrooms).

I know I'd have more luck in the towns but thought if there was somewhere I'd overlooked MN might know about it.
