Planning on getting a campervan and spending 10 days or so in Scotland, starting with Edinburgh (staying there with friends for 2 nights)
Please suggest places we shouldn't miss! Open to anything. I've always wanted to go to Skye, but for the first trip up to exploring anywhere.
Would like to find some remote spots for wild camping.

OMG what a great question. NC500 would be my first suggestion -circular route from Inverness round the very top of Scotland. I hear Skye is getting very busy - especially fairypools.
Right to roam in Scotland so you can park up anywahere that isn't something daft like a passing place or getting in the way, or if no overnight camping sign.
Amazing beaches on West coast if good weather - gairloch, achmelvich, arisaig and ullapool all amaxing places, though have had 2 bad summers where its been wet out west so I went east.
Often a microclimate around Moray coast so Nairn, Findhorn, Elgin can all be sunny and warm and great place t spot dolphins.
If not keen to come so far north I can really recommend Arran - about an hour ferry ride from Ardrossan (I think, I;ve got it all a bit muddled) outside Glasgow -its supposed to be Scotland in miniature and is beautiful. Most post offices / tourist info sell smidge which is pretty good at keeping the midges away....

Thank you Swanny for your great suggestions. NC500 looks stunning - I'd never heard of it before.
I'd love to go to Arran too. I'm tending towards the NC 500 for this trip.

I would go sooner rather than later as its just starting to get popular. BBC radio Scotland outdoors now have just released their NC500 trip as 2 podcasts which might be worth a listen too.
I think its advised to take 5 days minimum for NC500. You could then go south down the A82 and then have a long weekend in Arran.....

Arran? Short ferry ride, but in west side so maybe a trek from Edinburgh. Trossachs area would be accessible and quiet. Places like Dunkeld / Callander.

I grew up on Arran and it's lovely and easy to get do but can get wet! It is good for peace though.Have fun!
