Hi everyone, I'm looking at moving up north this summer with my two children, I really like Chester le Street but it's a little out of my price range, could anyone recommend any areas that are nice and child friendly close to that town and ones to avoid please?
Any info much appreciated, thank you x x

Ok this is really helpful thank you, I do have to admit Lanchester is great but they do not have any properties suitable there at the moment but will definitely keep looking out for that area.
Does anyone know what Birtley is like as there is a suitable house there? X x

Have you looked at Hexham?
It's lovely with good train links, might be a bit pricey though

Ok Hexham is out of our price range unfortunately, do you know the areas Urpeth Grange near Ouston or Angel Way near Birtley? If so what do you think of these pleases? X

No, sorry I've only lived in Weardale - which I wouldn't recommend for anyone unless it's for a holiday!!

O ok, thanks for your help though, I do appreciate it x

Hello. I live in Chester le street, actually in one of the villages you have mentioned.

Personally I would avoid pelton, pelton fell and Birtley. The new build estate in newfield is ok. I have friends who live there. There are new builds currently under construction in urpeth grange which are nice too. Message me if you have any questions. Smile

Sorry to hijack the thread but DurhamDurham, have you had your house on the market? I've got a friend who lives in GL & wants a bigger house in the village but houses in the village are like hens teeth.
