Looking for a recommendation for Scotland

Looking at a week self-catering around March/April and looking for suggestions on areas that might suit.

Two adults and a dog. Like being near water, quiet rural areas, nice drives. Will have our car with us.

Glencoe! It's stunning, absolutely beautiful, not too far from fort William either, Luss is beautiful too

stargirl1701 · 30/12/2016 16:43

Aviemore.

mrsrabbithastoomanyjobs · 30/12/2016 16:46

Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway. I live near and it's stunning Smile

What about the west coast? We had a family weekend in Strontian last year (Bluebell Croft if you are looking for specifics) self catering, accepted dogs, lovely walks, had a meal at the local hotel - all very nice :)

stayed here a few years ago - was lovely

I second Glencoe

Ohyesiam · 30/12/2016 17:42

The west coast is soooooo stunning, and Fort William is gorgeous too.

We did the west coast and stayed near morar, there are amazing beaches in that area. We went first week in July with terns and went sea swimming fantastic.

MaureenMLove · 30/12/2016 17:56

I would also recommend Glen Coe and just down the road between there and Kinlochleven is a wonderful static caravan site which I would highly recommend. Right on the loch, with plenty of walks to do, fire on the beach etc. There are vans there that accept dogs too.

I'm not sure I have heard Fort William described as gorgeous before. Argyll is one of my favourite areas. Or what about one of the inner Hebrides, Islay, Mull?

Whisky2014 · 01/01/2017 20:38

Achiltibuie! Beautiful place

GinGarden · 04/01/2017 07:19

Mull of Kintyre - Point Sands has a fabulous quiet site with brand new, luxury static caravans (dog friendly). Private beach and stunning sunsets over Jura and Islay. The ferry to Gigha (God's Island) is a 10min walk down the beach!
The caravans have direct access to the beach with private decking and uninterrupted sea views...amazing! www.pointsands.com

Dumfries and Galloway. Absolutely gorgeous. ( But not Stranraer)

Northernlurker · 04/01/2017 07:31

I would recommend Mull. You would always be near water.

MrsAmaretto · 14/01/2017 22:55

Killin, Loch Tay, Trossachs, Dunkeld

AgentProvocateur · 14/01/2017 22:57

Arran or achiltibuie for me.

AverysillyoldHector · 16/01/2017 19:01

How about Crail on the East Neuk of Fife? The East coast is very pretty and might be a bit drier too. This cottage is wonderful and has fantastic sea views (we stayed a couple of years ago and loved it). That whole area is great to explore, with St Andrews, Pittenweem and Anstruther nearby.

MargotsDevil · 16/01/2017 19:05

Killin, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, St Monans, Elie, Crail...

REW2016 · 16/01/2017 19:09

Aviemore! If you are looking for something a bit different we have stayed at Inshriach a couple of times in different options, with dogs both times. Very friendly. Try the Canopy and Stars website for some other ideas.

Can't reccomend Cuil Moss enough! Might be tough to get in though...
