I have a...ahem... "significant" birthday coming up soon so DP is taking me away for the weekend ( childfree as ILs are going to come and look after children!).

Fancied the Cotswolds area. Apparently Cirencester is a lovely town but I've never been.

Looking for a hotel in the town so we have the option of going out for food, drink, walk etc without worrying about how to get back to the hotel.

Are there any hotels, restaurants, things to do you would recommend? Have looked at the websites and found the Corinium and the Fleece -anyone know of them?

Many thanks

BettySpaghetti - Mawbroon sent me an email as I live in the area, but I don't think I can add anything else to what has been mentioned here.

Except to mention the The Abbey Grounds, whihc is a nice wee walk and I love the Roman Amphitheatre, (which is only a few grass hills but pretty amazing anyway!!!)

Can't offer advice on hotels or even nightlife as LO's have put an end to our Cotswold's social life

Thanks for the tips RedTartanLass.

I know what you mean about little ones putting an end to your social life - thats why we've decided to draft in the In-Laws and get away, otherwise you go out but are constantly keeping an eye on the time as you just know you've got an early start the next day
