I am filling in the forms for passports for my dd & ds. I have their birth certificates sitting here & then I read that they need our wedding certificate... have I read this right? If so, how do I send the one certificate with 2 passport forms seeing as they want the original & not a photocopy!!!

Can you not send them both together in one envelope? That's what I was planning to do when I get round to sorting ours out.

I've never needed my marriage certificate to get passports for my children. Isthis a new requirement? Do you and your DH have a passport? I've only ever had to fill in our passport numbers.

If the mother's UK passport was valid at the time of the child's birth, you don't need a marriage certificate according to the passport website although you do if you're using the father as proof of being british.

Like Batters, we are not married.

I have just received DD's passport the other week. I just put pur passport details on te form.

YOu can do the check and send service at the post office and the will make sure that you have all the relenta info and documents.

The child was born or adopted in the UK
In this case we need to see:

the child?s full birth or adoption certificate showing parents? details and evidence of one parent?s nationality or immigration status at the time of the child?s birth. That is, either:

the mother?s UK birth certificate, Home Office certificate of registration or naturalisation, or her passport that was valid at the time of the child?s birth;
or
the father?s UK birth certificate, Home Office certificate of registration or naturalisation, or his passport that was valid at the time of the child?s birth and the parents? marriage certificate.

So if you are using your documents as proof of nationality, you don't need the marriage certificate. If you are using DH's you do.

We sent both applications & the documents in one envelope.

I applied for passports for my dt's last year. I enclosed the 2 passports in the one envelope along with the marriage certificate.

I also used the check and send service, which was expensive but definitely worth it.

They put all the documents in one envelope and posted it for me
