Seahouses, is it really that bad?!

I have actually been before, DH and I went for a few days and really liked it but it was in winter so was very quiet. It was all roaring fires in cozy pubs and long walks on nice beaches on surprisingly nice winter days.

We've booked a big family holiday there with relatives, largely on my recommendation. Now I keep hearing how 'grim' it is, particularly in summer and I'm panicking! (I hate suggesting things for this reason!)

We picked it partly because there is a large caravan site for some relatives who are bringing their tourer and partly because I thought there would be plenty for everyone to do (large age range of kids). Now I just keep hearing how 'chavvy' (God I hate that word!) it is. Is it really that different in summer? Anybody been recently who can put my mind at rest?! I'm one of life's great worriers...

We're going to the area on Friday. Can't wait. All those pretty much deserted beaches in August?? You can keep yer Devons and Cornwalls! Wink

No it's not chavvy - it's lovely and the beach between Seahouses and Bamburgh is beautiful and empty :-)

Well we're here and it is lovely. Everyone loves it and MIL is even talking about buying a holiday home here, God alone knows what her friend would have to say about that! Thanks everyone, you were all completely correct Smile

Who said it was chavvy??
It's really not, that whole area is lovely.

Hoppinggreen · 03/08/2016 20:49

Oops, crosspost.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday OP - go to Craster, there is a great walk to the castle near there and a vair nice pub that does awesome seafood

The Jolly Fisherman, Hopping? It's gorgeous.

I can also recommend the little fish & chip shop just outside Beadnell, OP. Right next to a lovely little cove for eating.

Hoppinggreen · 03/08/2016 21:01

Yes, I think that's the one.
Also, DO go to Beadnell as pp says

I want to go back now!!
