Tenby beach is fab. The town can be a bit tacky in summer but easter is not so bad. Its a good base to explore the area from

this one is fab too at Saundersfoot

WE stayed in St. Dogmaels. It was a lovely cottage with a lovely beach about a mile away - very sandy. There was also a castle close, St. Davids not too fine away where we went on a boat ride and a farm where you can see seals.

I'd also recommend the Old Cross Hotel in St Davids - as suggested by Roskva - (we went there in August 2006): it's comfortable, with good breakfasts and nice clean rooms. Ask for a room overlooking the cross - which is the centre of the "city". Having said that, it's a very quiet place. St Davids has some really good restaurants, a few nice unusual shops, a amazingly fab home made ice-cream parlour, and good bus links to places on the Pembrokeshire Coast (including beaches like Whitesands). There are plenty of gentle but splendid coastal walks, which are well served by buses (check the tietables on the internet, I think that by Easter the frequency will be back up after Winter), so you don't have to do circular walks. There are also boat trips which would be suitable for your daughters (they advise you if its too rough to take children).
There is a posher hotel in St Davids that has some rooms with sea views, but when I searched the internet for comments on it they were not very flattering.

wow! what great suggestions. i think a cottage may be realistic, price wise.dont really want to spend more than £4oo as we've been skiing recently, so need to be a bit careful. hotels are 2 yo can be a tricky combination unless they are really child friendly, dont you think? oati, the one at saundersfoot looks great1 will try to find out prices. thanks to all.

We've used FB Mason to book holidays, as well as Holiday Connections . Both are based in Tenby.

If you're after a cottage, try here or here

cazzybabs · 21/01/2007 18:15

This is where we stayed www.welsh-cottages.co.uk/
REf number 792. It was just lovely, although no garden but had lots of toys in the cottage. The pub was down the road - which served really lovely food, Tesco's was a short car ride away and there was a coop tyle thing in the village and there was a lovely cafe in a watermill.
