Midge repellent for babies

I'm looking for a midge repellent to use for our new baby.

I've done some googling and it seems most insect repellents shouldn't be used for babies under two months. Also, most of the websites were American, hence reviewing effectiveness for insects in general, but not for midges specifically.

Do any of of you have recommendations on midge repellent that is a) safe to use for young babies and b) effective against the Great Scottish Midge?

Avon skin so soft dry oil spray? No idea if its ok for babies but the great scottish midge doesnt seem to like it 😂

Yeah, we always use Skin So Soft (live in Scotland, albeit not in a midgey area), but apparently, it's not recommended for babies... Thanks though! :)

The highland soap company do a bog myrtle moisturiser which is lovely and light and repels midgies. It is the bog myrtle apparently!

I used to live in the Highlands. None of the usual repellants work on midges.

The only one I ever found that was any good was called Smidge. It's not 100% but better than anything else. Lots of bog myrtle things sold up there.... they didn't work very well.

I would recommend keeping baby under a net whenever possible. Keep moving if you have to carry baby outside... They're slow and can't keep up with you but will swarm as soon as you stop.

They'd catch me and my babies when I had to strap them into their car seats.

Skin so Soft doesn't repel them but will "drown" them. Perhaps try baby oil on exposed skin to reduce bites.

I use lavender oil.

Not on my skin- just rub between my palms and smooth over hair and clothes.

Dettol and baby oil. Google this and experiment with skin sensitivity. You can spray on clothing and the smell alone will keep many at bay (also humans )

I've used this for years and if you're OK with the smell it's excellent (also against ants and sand flies)
