I am quite impressed with this having looked at the website. Has anyone been in the winter and in particularly at Christmas. Center Parcs is sooo expensive but we do want something for the kids to do. Don't want to sound snobby though but we do want a nice quality place - not lots of people drinking too much and drifting back to their chalets after we've gone to bed.

I am hoping Sandy Balls (!!?!) will fit the bill.

I live about 5 minutes from Sandy Balls and I'm a member at their gym/swimming pool. It's undergoing a huge amount of work at the moment so it's a bit of a building site but apparently they intend to finish by the summer. They do have great facilities for children and some pukka looking chalets. But they aren't cheap.

Another advantage is it's in a lovely part of the world (ok, I'm biased!) - lots of lovely New Forest countryside nearby and some great pubs.

We've wondered about going here a number of time and have heard good things about it.

I'll watch this post with interest.

Still can't get over the name!

It's great, we go every year. It's very family friendly, loads of great walks on your doorstep and beaches a 15 min drive or so away.

Haven't been at xmas or in the winter, usually spring/summer, and it hasn't been at all rowdy or lairy with drinkers. It's not like that at all. Their log cabins are fab and I've heard there are new ones this year, luxury, but only for 4 people.

at piglet.

Are there indoor activities for kids?

I went there once! I camped in a tent - was a really nice place.

The soft play bit is good (my dses go there almost every day when it rains!)and the swimming pool is good for kids.

Also they have a spa type place called Tempus that does fantastic treatments which aren't all that expensive.

During school hols they have loads of activities for kids - nature walks, craft-type making things, sports etc.

Sandy Balls is fabbo.

Not least because of its name

Have been a few times in the past. It's great!

Wow - I used to holiday there when I was a child (early 80's so can't comment on what it's like now). We used to take our own tent.

I remember loving it as there was a playground, pool, some sort of pottery thing and a big lake.

It's prob completely changed now.
