Nice place within couple of hours of central belt of Scotland - with teens

I'm looking for somewhere nice to go for a night or two in the Summer for my big birthday.....only we have two teenage boys that we'll have to take with us as we can't leave them yet and nowhere else for them to be.

Don't want anything too astronomical (about £500 max for all of us) but something a bit special where we can be comfortable and boys will be fine.

I don't like Spa type things such as massage etc and don't feel too comfortable with overly posh - just somewhere nice with good food and something to do with teenagers .

Might be a big ask though :(

We can't go abroad as DH refusing at the moment (pain in the arse).

Would consider a city break further away if convenient for the train.

Help! :)

Not sure what your budget is, but this is worth the stretch for a special occasion: We had a fab few days in Edinburgh with our teens and stayed at the Chester Residence in the West End. We had a swanky basement flat with 2 bedrooms, sitting room and a small kitchen, so we could self cater for breakfast, and make sandwiches or heat up pizzas so cut down on the costs of eating out. It was a really cool place, wifi in the rooms and a huge dvd library so we left the teens in on their own one night while we went out and revisited all my student haunts.

Just googled that CQ - it's in the street where I used to work! :o

Its a bit pricy at £425 a night with no food but i'll see if I can find a deal on it or something like that.

DH and I haven't been out in Edinburgh in years so it is starting to appeal, but I'm keeping an open mind.
