New Forest

Thinking about a trip there this summer. DH and I and 3 DCs, 5, 3, and 2 yo but mostly me and the DC as DH is working. Good idea or silly one?

If good idea, any recommendations for decent self catering accommodation?

Have a look at sandy balls. I haven't been there myself as I'm local. But heard lots of good things about it.

There's a lot of see around the new forest. Paulton's Park is very good for their age. It has peppa pig world and also the new critter's creek. But there might be a lot of queuing in peak season? We've always gone in low season. Moors Valley Country Park has a lovely play trail. There's also Marwell Zoo and the New Forest Wildlife Park. I'm not sure if yours are up for walking and cycling yet, but if they are, there's plenty of forest tracks to do that!

As for whether you can handle a holiday with a 5, 3 and 2 yo, only you will know :)

We might well go in low season. The 5 yo is very into nature and trees atm and the nearly 3 yo is very athletic and the 2 yo is very laidback so walks might be just the thing.

Sandy Balls looks nice even if the name is a bit unfortunate.

One of the advantages of being an immigrant is exploring without going abroad so I tend to look for holidays within the UK. DH(Londoner born and bred) goes along with this as he also prefers UK.

Am actually getting quite excited about planning a trip there now. Thank you for telling me about various options. It really helps to have someone local give you information.

The New Forest is a hotbed for ticks so if you go make sure you take precautions.

We've got a tick remover. They are only a few quid if you are worried about it.

We live on the edge of the New Forest, between 4 of us over 15 years we've only had 3 ticks. So Yes, be aware, especially if you;ve been walking through long grass, but it's no big deal.

Don't freak about ticks...
I spent half my life in the new forest forest... never had a tick, even with dogs and horses!
It's the snakes you want to watch for
.. lol, just kidding.
