Suggestions of where to stay in the Cotswolds

My parents (fun & quite lively 63 & 65 year olds) live in Cornwall but would like to come up to the Cotswolds next year for a short break.
Can anyone suggest a particular area and/ or places to stay (hotel, cottage or otherwise) that would be nice for them.
Pricewise it'll have to be somewhere not too expensive but not cheap and cheerful either.
They'd like plenty of things to do and see.
Any suggestions gratefully considered.

I would pop over the border into Oxfordshire if possible just because 'The Cotswolds' probably adds a good 20%! Otherwise all around Slad, Nailsworth, Minchinhampton area is very pretty.

Tillyboo - I live in the area...what's their budget (if that's not too nosey to ask)?

What time of year, tillyboo? If they can avoid peak periods there are loads of gorgeous places at reasonable-ish prices at cottages4you (not all actually in the Cotswolds but have a look anyway )

bugger - link failed as soon as I posted it.

OK, go to home page and then put in area and 2 people and see what there is. (Or if they have a specific date, put that in availability search and see what's actually available )

Burford or Symonds Yat have lots to do. Would they be driving? If not they could always stay in a travel inn or B&B near cheltenham and go on a site seeing tour with Marchants - they usually do a tour of the cotswold villages at some point.

Sudeley Castle Cottages are nice. They are in Winchcombe which is convenient for lots of nice villages, plus Cheltenham and Gloucester. Winchcombe itself is a small town with basic shops, some nice pub/ tea rooms and a ruined abbey. They aren't cheap cottages but you do get free entry to the castle (or you did) which is handy if it is wet and you don't want to go far. I expect a google will bring them up. HTH.

Thanks all !
My parents originally come from Oxfordshire but retired to Cornwall 3 years ago - mum has never settled there and loves coming back this way so Oxfordshire is probably out. We live in Berkshire so very familiar with Oxfordshire anyway.

Budgetwise I'd say the equivelent to a decent Spanish/ Majorcan 2 week break possibly and probably early summer May - Early July.

I will certainly have a look at the suggestions here
