Kynance Cove near The Lizard - bit of a walk but lovely and worth it

JeffsanArsehole · 22/08/2015 21:14

Polzeath (doggy beach)

Porthminster in St Ives

WoodleyPixie · 22/08/2015 21:15

Perranporth is fab for the kids.

We are in bude at the moment. There are several fab beaches here. Good for bodyboarding, paddling, lots of sand and lots of coves to explore.

Depends what you want it for: if you want crowds, surf, ice creams and activities; or total isolation and seclusion! (We went for the latter.)

This link has many of the best I think:

Ahh no - here's the better one, as it includes our favourite - porthchapel:

Our favourites were Treen; Penberth Cove; Pedn Vounder (not easy to get down to); Porthcurno; Porthgwarra (the 'cave' in Poldark); and Porthchapel.

The links have full details on them all.

Portherras is without a doubt the best but a trek and a locals beach. Porthcurno is also lovely and Carbis Bay.

D0G · 22/08/2015 23:18

I also like perranuthnoe for ease and safety for the kids

LillianGish · 22/08/2015 23:36

Crantock - and I love walking up the Gannel when the tide is out.

Marmite27 · 22/08/2015 23:41

2nd Crantock, also Holywell Bay and Pollyjoke.

Though it's 20 years since I've been to any of them!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 22/08/2015 23:44

I've only been to St Ives (stunning) and Fistral. Fistral is way too surfy!

coffeeisnectar · 22/08/2015 23:51

Only been to perranporth but it's got amazing surf and plenty of beach space, caves, water pools and is just gorgeous.

Corygal · 23/08/2015 00:03

Daymer Bay - bliss, wide, open, really brilliant surf. Less rammed than Polzeath.

YesIleftthebastard · 23/08/2015 00:06

Porthcurno

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 23/08/2015 00:07

Polzeath (not so much now it's so busy but was lovely 30 years ago Sad)
Daymer
Porthcurno
Porthmeor
Porthgwidden
Carbis Bay
Porthminster

Basically all the St Ives beaches!!

Harlyn (great for dogs)

SorrelForbes · 23/08/2015 00:16

Lantic Bay

YouWereWearingYourBlueJumper · 23/08/2015 15:16

Porthcurno
Kynance (the National Trust place does good burgers)
Cadgwith (go to either Cadgwith Cove Inn or the crab place opposite to get the best crab sandwiches ever
Bude Summerleaze
Bude Northcott Mouth (the one with Margaret's Tea Room, with really good sandwiches)

Yes, I'm slightly obsessed with food Grin

FriedFishAndBread · 23/08/2015 15:24

Perranporth, it has rock pools, places to explore plus a sandy beach with toilets cafe and carport without walking down and back up millions of steps.

SueGeneris · 23/08/2015 15:26

Porthcurno
Constantine Bay

SweepTheHalls · 23/08/2015 15:27

Magwan Porth. Has everything Grin

Karoleann · 24/08/2015 13:58

Porthcurnick is one of my favourites and I also like Carne and Pendower.
Mawgan Porth nice, but a bit commercial for me.

hookiewookiedoodah · 25/08/2015 20:38

Crantock is lovely. Perranporth is good, but can get dangerous undercurrents in the sea.
