Where would you go with three 17 yr olds in Wales?

Hi, never ever been to Wales, looking for a week in Aug. There seems to be a lot of s/catering options but where to go? Boys would like a sandy beach, I would like walking distance of nice cafes/shops/dh would like nice gardens to visit and dd would love art galleries! Mixed bag! TIA. x

Id do a night or two in Barry Grin purely for the Gavin and Stacy link. Bit of mini golf, seaside, fish and chips. Then into Cardiff city centre (so so beautiful) for another few days.

Try and squeeze in a visit to St Fagans - an outdoor history museum (bit like Beamish if you know if that)

Pembrokeshire, Saundersfoot or Tenby areas. Oakwood is good.

Any other places? Need beach and facilities in easy walking distance, nice town to walk around etc oh and a hot tub would be nice!!

Tenby and surrounding area in Pembrokeshire should fit your bill -beautiful beaches, lovely little town for shops and eating out, and there are gardens in visiting distance (Bosherston springs to mind but someone more local or into gardens could probably advise others. The National Botanic Gardens in Carmarthenshire would also be easy day trip distance or good for visiting on route as near m4). Not as sure about galleries, but would think there are some small ones as Tenby quite arty sort of place, as is St Davids if you took a day trip there. Or if you want bigger galleries you could stop off in cardiff on route for National Museum and Gallery.

What about Bounce Below www.bouncebelow.net - it's a subterranean playground. I've never been but I will next time I'm in Wales.

If you're near Tenby, there's the Blue Lagoon swimming pool with waves & slide.

North Wales.
Visit portmeirion. If you have loads of money you could stay there.
Walk up Snowdon or go on the train.
Bounce Below in an old slate mine.
Several High Ropes in the area.
Quite a few Art Galleries in the area.
Lovely beaches, Aberdovey, Porthmadog, loads on Anglesey.

Loads to do in NWales if the weather is bad

I would go to bounce below and the zip wires near there. And stay in abersoch somewhere....then if the weather plays up you still have loads of options...

Pembrokeshire - amazing beaches, watersports at various locations (coastering is great), preseli hills or coastal path for walks, bosherston lilly ponds and barafundle bay one of the prettiest walks you can so. Hilton court gardens or some national garden scheme places. Botanical gardens or aberglasney on way down or back. Folly farm, bluestone blue lagoon. To be based in one town probably St Davids or tenby/Saundersfoot but you'll get more out of it if you drive a bit.

Stay in Cardiff - Pontcanna if you can. The boys can jump on the train to Barry, you can walk to lovely places including shops, restaurants, cafés, the national museum, millennium stadium (where there are tours).

Bring or hire bikes and cycle to the Bay or up the Taff trail.

Visit the Brecon Beacons to walk in amazing scenery.
make sure the 17 year olds have fake ID so they can go to some popular clubs and end up in chip alley at 3am

Bring wet weather gear!

The gardens at St Fagans are lovely too, and if you have a car with you, the national botanic gardens are drive able in a day.

Pontcanna (like lots of Cardiff city centre) is tight for parking, but a good base if you can find the right rental place.

There are also some spas in hotels like St David's where you can probably get a day pass.

And junemami's suggestion of Pembrokeshire is great - quieter, but God's own country for scenery and coastline.

I don't know why we are going abroad!

I vote for Tenby too. Or perhaps have a look at the Llangrannog, New Quay area, that is gorgeous too and has plenty going on.
If you have time, do spend a day or two in Cardiff. It is a fabulous city

If you're looking for something to do, you could book them in at Velocity or Titan, let them spend an afternoon hurtling down a mountainside over disused quarries at up to 100mph.
