Best places to stay during 'your' of UK

We're pretty stuck for holiday ideas this year so have been thinking of doing something a bit different.

We have 3dcs, aged 7, 4 and 3 and have 14 days available.

Accommodation needs to be as cheap as possible (caravans etc) but most importantly be a fantastic place to visit and have things to do and see. We would only like to stop for around 2/3 days before moving on somewhere different.

Travelling from Scotland and would like one of our stops to be the city of London.

Things we like -
adventure parks but tame as kids young;
Good adventure farms;
Sandy beaches;
Good entertainment in evening if applicable;
Little bit of history/sightseeing enough to keep kids happy too;
Scenic places.

Any suggestions? I've thought so far of haggerston castle and Scarborough.

I'd go for Brixham in Devon. Loads of cheap caravan parks. Look up Woodlands near Dartmouth it's fab. Also Paignton Zoo, boat trips accross the bay, Greenway mansion, Berry Pomeroy castle. Fab beaches at Broadsands, Paignton and Slapton.

I agree with SheThinksShesPeople! Have a nice time, too.

I prefer Teignmouth and Shaldon to Brixham as more to do actually there, put not as pricey as Torquay. But agree with everything else shesays Smile

Weston is nice, lots of camping around Burnham, and you've got Cheddar, Bristol, Glastonbury around there

Exeter as well, and Exmouth.

Cardiff is nice if you are going into Wales, and obviously Wales is full of amazing scenery but I have only been to the towns and cities really.

Have you thought of getting a Merlin pass and making your way around the attractions?

Another vote for Wales.

Yorkshire.
Any of it.
All of it.

Don't worry about the rest, London etc you will fall in love and want to stay here forever Grin

I'm not from there, but Derbyshire is lovely. There is Chatsworth, which as well as the lovely house and gardens (which is nice because children can play in the fountains and on the grass) has a lovely farm shop and a petting farm. There is the Cable car at Heights of Abraham. Nearby there are things like the Blue John Mines (gorgeous underground caverns) and the Speedwell mines (similar except you go through them on a boat, I loved them as a kid, DSS did too). The scenery is beautiful too. Alton Towers isn't far away, nor is Sherwood Forrest with its visitor centre. There are other historic houses in the area to visit too. Bakewell is a nice place too.

Isle of Wight is good and has something for everyone. There are plenty of caravan sites there.

Just thinking that I can't think of anything less relaxing for a holiday, than packing up every 2-3 days and spending half the time travelling with 3 small dc Shock

I'm with Fatstacks find somewhere nice, get a cottage or van and go out from there - beaches, history, countryside walks, local attractions - you can find them all in any one area of the UK.
I mean Paignton area is nice, but it's a heck of a jaunt there and back from Scotland - same with Isle of Wight.. lovely place, loads to see, but if you are going, then stay put once you get there Smile

What about the Lac district or nort Wales? It's a bit closer to home so less travelling. Liverpool is good for shopping and culture.

I agree with Back, rather than moving around, establish a base and go on day trips from there.

I agree with the peak district. There are quite a few caravan sites around. Callow top in ashbourne would be a good base. Chatsworth with farm and adventure playground. Gullivers kindom (tame theme park) in matlock bath near to the cable cars mentioned by PP. Bakewell very pretty and has a splash park (so has matlock) carsington water is also nearby and has a great expanse of water and boat hire , adventure playgrounds and nature trails.
