Central London family hotels

My brother is getting married on 19th Dec in central London. Some family members are staying very close by at the Waldorf but that's just too grand!!! we're planning on staying 3 nights fri -mon.

We have 2 dc who will be 7and 5. I'd welcome all suggestions of options for where to stay as have never stayed in central London before. Am thinking budget of £500 for 3 nights bed and breakfast but if we spend less we'll be able to have more to spend on other things. Am thinking premier inn/youth hostels etc...but happy to have other suggestions. Also any must do/see activities with 2 young lively boys....

Can't go wrong with Premier Inn family rooms, quite a few of them scattered around central london! Book early for availability and best rates!
TTD... Loads to do, to mention a few Science museum, natural history museum, London Eye, Emirates cable car..

Agree you should be able to get premier inn on your budget if you don't mind sharing a room with the kids They are good for families book up early for that time of year though and may be a bit more pricy than norma. Tonnes to do especially at Xmas have a great time

Winter wonderland at hyde park is magical!!

check airbnb.co.uk if willing to use tube/bus abit. You have iceskating at Somerset House/the London eye/museums at that time of year - great to watch and give a go. Also the science museum and natural history museum (both free) and the London transport museum (in covent garden - pay to get in) are good fun. There is a winter/Christmas market along the southbank and winter wonderland at that time of year - and covent garden is fun with the street performers. You could go up the shard (look out for kids go free deals - they often have them at that time of year) for sunset which my kids loved at that age too.

Thank you for all the suggestions -I'll enjoy looking into them all.

Was definitely thinking natural history and science museums but the transport museum and the cable car might make the trip for the boys!!! And have heard about the Hyde park winter wonderland so will look at that too.

I would check you can't get a deal on The Waldorf, look on booking.com

I've stayed there in the last year and wasn't that impressed (but I am very fussy!) so don't worry, you're not missing much. The Travelodge in Covent Garden has family rooms and is 5 minutes walk from The Waldorf so I think I'd try there IIWY. The rooms are basic (remember to take shampoo etc) but clean and very central.

Premier Inn Euston for budget. Melia Whitehouse for non-budget. Both are great family hotels.

In the past we have stayed as a family of 4 at the Travelodge Covent Garden (at £36 a room per night....kerr ching!) and Novotel Tower Bridge (about £90 a night) . Both to be recommended if you get them at similar prices. Travelodge not so much recommended if the cost is high)
