Leeds - The Queens Hotel or Premier Inn?!

DH is 40 this year and I want to book a night in Leeds for me, him and our 4 year old DD in June. Have trains sorted but can't decide on hotel. It is a surprise for DH so can't ask his opinion! I don't want to go mad in terms of cost. Queens is coming in at £124 for a family room and buffet breakfast. Looks nice. Premier Inn is £104 with breakfast. I guess what I'm asking is wether or not it's worth paying the extra 20 quid for a hotel that is not a premier inn! Any advice would be great. Thanks.

We had our wedding at The Metropole - that has a lovely restaurant and really nice rooms, it's on King St

The beds at a Premier Inn are large and v comfy.. And rooms are clean.. To me both are v importantSmile

Thanks Fire - HIE does look good but according to reviews it is a good 10 minutes walk from city centre. Worried that might be really 20 minutes for my 4 year old! I think I am going to go for good old Premier Inn - as you say Ruthie, big rooms and always nice and clean.

To answer your original question OP, I would go for Queens for a big birthday. Better location and for the extra cost surely worth it? Breakfast will probably be nicer too. If you're thinking of the Premier Inn at the bottom of Wellington Street it's much further to walk and not easy to "pop back" whereas the Queens would be.

Yes, which Premier Inn are you thinking of, and whereabouts in Leeds do you want to be? PI always gets my vote for reliably good quality, but neither of the two in Leeds is bang in the centre of town. The Queens is obvs right next to the train station which is handy for arrival but then not necessarily the best location depending on what you're going to be doing.

Right. Queens is booked! PI is too far out. Thanks for all your help!

Good stuff - not sure what you have planned but Leeds City Museum is great for kids. You've got Leeds Trinity shopping centre just near by for restaurants and stuff and the Armouries a short hop on the bus away.

Thank you tribpot! That was my next question! Great suggestions.

If you fancy a nice walk and a museum, Kirkstall Abbey is only a couple of miles from the centre of town - bus job again.
