Impossible task? One night in Bath at a weekend.

I cannot find a b&b or hotel that will rent a room for a single night at a weekend in Bath. I've tried millions of places now and I'm on the verge of giving up and aiming to go somewhere else. Is it entirely impossible? I've never encountered this before. I can only get away for one night. :(

You guys are amazing!

Bailbrook has bailed out on me - no availability. I got excited at the Royal Hotel, but nope - two nights.

I really wanted to stay in a city so I can dump our stuff and we can be grown ups.

I think Bailbrook lodge in Bath lets you book for one night only, and It may be a little cheaper than Bailbrook house

ireallydontlikemonday · 21/02/2015 16:18

The travelodge used to do one night stays, no where else - I used to visit family there a lot and I searched everywhere!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2015 16:21

The lodge also says two nights only.
I'm going off the idea now!

Holiday Inn Bath is letting me book a room for one night on booking.com. Any good?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2015 16:23

airbnb sounds a bit scary! and we wanted the swanning down to breakfast experience.

Bristol (lots to do), Exeter / Winchester / Truro (historic), Watergate bay (lovely hotel, beach and restaurant)... Ooh there's loads. I'm jealous!

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 21/02/2015 16:25

We've stayed in that Holiday Inn and they've always been really helpful about letting us park after we've checked out.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2015 16:27

Maybe anythingforaquietnight. Its not what I had imagined but it has beds at least.

I'm sorry to be so grumpy and ungrateful and all of your lovely help.

I need to go and do some gardening - I've wasted all the sunshine :(

OYBBK be as grumpy as you like. I'm a fan of your weather threads. WOuld be a pleasure to help you find the right place to stay.
How far south/west/north would you go? Oxford? Wells?
Truro/Cornwall is a looong way for one night (I know, I live there and it's a long way from anywhere)

anythingforaquietnight · 21/02/2015 16:40

airbnb is not scary at all. We've stayed at fantastic places all over the country and met some lovely people.

How about this boutique B&B in Bath? Lots of great reviews

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2015 17:11

I phoned them Anything - and they don't have anything available. :( They looked absolutely lovely.

I think Bristol is as far west, Oxford as far north but not oxford as we go there for day trips,

ooo - what about Canterbury? Thats doable. Whats there?

Lovely shops, cathedral little streets to wander through. It's on my list to go back to.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2015 17:19

and it doesnt seem to have this one night thing going on. So its worth a visit do you think?

OP posts:
MrsMinton · 21/02/2015 17:21

I loved it there because I like wandering about, stopping for tea and cake or a pint and I find old places interesting.

MrsMinton · 21/02/2015 17:22

Oh and bagpuss used to be there in the museum!

Bohemond · 21/02/2015 17:24

The lit festival starts next week so not surprised it is busy. Good time to go though.

Chchchchanging · 21/02/2015 17:29

In summer or weekend virtually impossible sadly, however if you could do a thurs night would highly recommend villa magdella x

ButEmilylovedhim · 21/02/2015 17:32

Have you tried the royal park guest house in Bath? I've just booked and it looks nice. Close to the centre too.

Barbarella · 21/02/2015 17:33

You'll find the same in the Cotswolds, it is annoying

You'll get one night in London or Bristol or Oxford - worth trying?

Barbarella · 21/02/2015 17:34

Bristol hotel du vin is good, so is the Marriott

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2015 17:41

I've booked a hotel in Canterbury instead Grin

House of Agnes room with a balcony and quirky stairs, parking and breakfast for £125. So cheaper than the holiday inn at Bath! and it looks proper romantic Wink

So.... where shall we eat?!
