Bude, Cornwall

Well, I've booked for July 2007. A lovely 4 bed new house on the outskirts of Bude here . It's our first time to Cornwall and I just wanted to pick your collective brains for places to visit.
We have 2 ds's who will be 4 and 2 and we're going with MIL & FIL (who can't walk a huge distance without stops).
So far I've got Padstow, The Eden Project, Watergate Bay, JO's 15 restaurant and possibly THe Milky way (but have heard thats not great). Does anyone have any other suggestions for beaches/farms/adventure type places within say 1.5hr max drive?
TIA!

The Big Sheep, possibly Coombe Martin dinosaur park although that is a bit of a drive, Shires adventure park, Tamar otter sanctuary, RHS Rosemoor Garden, Launceston Steam Railway (this is good because you can get off at Trethorne Leisure Farm which is a lovely smallish farm with a few of each animal and a big play area and indoor play areas with old fashioned games like devil-among-the-tailors).

HTH (can you tell we went on holiday to Bude a couple of years ago ).

Bude itself has an indoor pool and the sea water one on the beach. The town itself has lots of touristy shops. I think your house is probably on the road into Bude so anticipate a walk up hill to get home. You can hire a rowing boat on the canal in Bude. Widemouth Bay which is th next bay along is also a nice beach. IN bUde itself I prefer Summerleaze Beach as it is the one with the pool...

Okehampton Castle

Lydford Gorge

Dartmoor

Holsworthy has a market weekly I think

Northcott Mouth - the most perfect beach in the world, but don't tell anyone!
Fantastic rock pools, NO seaweed, great waves, lovely sandcastle building sand.
Probably the only downside with a young family is there are no facilities.
Have just spent summer there, first time back in 20 years and still as perfect as I remember.

Sandy Cove beach - north of Bude. has (or used to have NT tea room/loos etc by the car park) Lots of sand at low tide and rocks - but the tide does come right in (suggest you check tide time tables in advance!)
