my bro has suggested a get together at longleat. wasn't exactly overwhelmed by sherwood forest - any views on how it compares?

I don't know sherwood forest well (went there decades ago)

Longleat is in a beautiful setting - loads of wildlife. It is VERY hilly - and everything is not central like the other centre parcs. You have the pool and some restaurants at the top end - then at the bottom, you have the sports bit, the indian restaurant and the sports cafe (with the village square in between the two).

If you do go there, I would really go for a villa near the pool end. There is a land train (a landrover pulling sort of carriages) that goes between the sites all day if you have little ones who can't manage the hills. Generally, we walk everywhere when we have been.

Also, ask for a refurbished villa. They are much nicer.

It's a bit of a thread hijack but we are going to whinfell in May and are looking for a discount code. If you happen to have one i would appreciate it if you would post it for me.

tthanks

I like Longleat too as it really feels you are deeply snuggled up in the forest. Agree villa nr pool end, use land train, and if you have the bikes there is a big wide zig zag path that goes down to the sports centre at the bottom.

Dyzzidi, we're going in a fortnight to Whinfell, and we got £50 off by entering a competition on the Timotei shampoo site. It was a couple of weeks ago, so not sure if it's still there. Looking forward to going. We're CP virgins.

We were thinking of booking to go to Centerparcs but have been informed by someone who has just been that you have to pay for EVERYTHING now this includes even the swimming pool

Thought it was expensive enough - we deffo won't be going again.

foxinsocks · 02/10/2006 20:42

you don't pay for the pool

creepydazy · 02/10/2006 20:46

Well we didn't when we went a few year ago but apparently at Whinfell you do now.

MrsMuddle · 02/10/2006 20:52

I've got the activities brochure here. I'm trying to decide what to do. Does anyone know if the three hour spa experience is worthwhile? There's no mention of paying for the swimming, other than lessons. Everything else has a price against it, so I'm sure it must be free.

creepydazy · 02/10/2006 20:57

Oh good well I hope it is, the message must have got muddled which I received.

Still found it incredibly expensive but was a very beautiful place so I suppose its what you want really.

Rookiemum · 03/10/2006 14:17

Mrsmuddle the three hour spa experience is expensive but what isn't at center parcs but imho very worth it. You get a nice thick towelling robe and wander round all the different experience areas, I loved it, very relaxing and child free.

Oh and we were at Whinfell and they didn't charge for the pool.

MrsMuddle · 03/10/2006 15:56

Thanks for that, Rookiemum. I have booked it, but was feeling slightly guilty about the cost, so I really wanted someone to tell me it was worth it. I'm looking forward to it now.
