We are planning to go next week (was going to be Legoland but they are closed - grrr!)- bit late to start looking around - but any suggestions for places to stay? Got a dd aged nearly 3. I know C Parcs is just there but I'm sure they don't do just a 2 day midweek break. Would love somewhere with a pool but getting a bit desperate for anywhere!

Try centerparcs - sometimes they have rooms/apartments which they do by the night - I've done that at Sherwood Forest before

we stayed in a self catering cottage in a village on the longleat estate - its lovely and ideally located. could try emailing them - [email protected] and see if they have any vacancy. they are also part of somekind of self catering network so ask for name of co-ordinator and phone number if they don't have spaces.

otherwise location wise - Frome would be ideal but don't know of any hotels in the area

Wow - those 2 places look fab! Not sure we can afford the mad place - I wish.....! Am going to investigate center parcs this morning and will report back - would be really handy if they do do a couple of nights.

Spoken to Center Parcs - they told me that very very occasionally they have 1 or 2 night breaks but only in "extreme circumstances" (!) I asked for examples and they said that maybe if they had had a large corporate booking for 2 nights that cancelled at the last minute. Or next Christmas apparently they are doing a special 2 nighter because of the way Christmas falls. So you must have got lucky morningpaper!
