Child friendly Glasgow

I'm taking my two ds (5&7) to Glasgow for the rugby 7s at the Commonwealth Games which is at Ibrox. We are staying in Grifnok (sp?) and travelling by train.
We have a spare day on the Friday for sightseeing so I'm looking for child friendly ideas for that and also things to do/places to eat near Ibrox to break up the day.

With a few hours spare between events at Ibrox stadium I'd probably try Bellahouston park as mentioned before, or take the underground and go into the west end or city centre. (Public transport may be busier and slower than usual of course.)

Bellahouston park has a swing park with a zip slide, all the stuff mentioned previously e.g. a walled garden, a leisure centre, house for an art lover, a dry ski slope... It'd be a nice spot for a picnic.

Gumps that sounds like a lovely few days. Have a great time

Had a quick scan down and don't think it's been suggested before re the tube to ibrox but if you're in giffnock you can probably get a bus and get off near Bridge Street station. It would save you going into the city centre.

What's your dh doing Gumps? Is he in one of the sevens squads?

Gumps · 21/07/2014 20:37

He is a coach which is actually way more stressful than when he was playing!

Fingers xd for him - how exciting for you and your dcs!

Thank you so much for the wonderworld recommendation. 50 thousand trying to get out of ibrox and another 50 thousand trying to get in. Friends left two hours ago and aren't even at the city centre yet while I am sat, tea in hand, with happy kids playing.
Rugby didn't go our way but we are having a brilliant time in Glasgow.
