What to see and do in the uk!

Hi ladies,

Looking for some travel advice. Thinking about going to the uk from Ireland in August. Plan is to get the ferry to Fishgaurd and bring the car. Will probably visit friends in Hastings and Shropshire so my question is; any recommendations on places to visit, not to miss, etc that would be on route to hastings or Shropshire or not too far off the route! Will be travelling with a toddler btw!

From Fishguard to Hastings:

Port Meirion
Bristol/Bath
I've heard London has quite a few interesting tourist attractions

Via Shropshire:

Shrewsbury
Ludlow

Will google those places, it's a great starting point! Have been to London before we had the toddler and loved it but not sure that we'd be too keen on driving into the city although might be an idea to get a train in from hastings.

Battle Abbey near Hastings. Worth a look. Google English Heritage for info. Also see what National Trust places are nearby too.

Stonehenge / Avesbury.

Agree with Port Meirion - fasinating place.

Oxford -including Ashmolean museum if you're into that sort of thing - it's free. Use the park & ride

The Cotswolds is beautiful. All those wonderful little villages Bourton on the Water, Burford, The slaughters (horrid name, lovely places)

Shropshire is a lovely and very much underrated county. We had one of our best UK holidays when we rented a cottage in Much Wenlock.

Shropshire places to see:
Ironbridge
Ludlow
Severn Valley railway
West Midlands safari park
Wenlock priory

Isle of Wight. Beautiful. Lots to do.
Charmouth in Dorset for fossil hunting and all things dinosaur.
Mudeford for nice (mostly sandy) beach, crabbing, boats and noddy train to hengistbury head
Brighton for (pebble) beach, pier and shopping. Can't beat it. Lovely toddler playground right on the beach with water play etc.
Portsmouth for Mary rose etc if you like ships plus Spinnaker Tower and outlet shopping at Gunwharf Keys.

Can you tell I like the seaside?! You'll go past all of these on way to Hastings.

Oh I'm going to add Cardiff, Bath and Cheltenham for non seaside places en route.
And I agree with all other posts. Is your trip long enough... We have a lot to see here!!!

Giffords circus in the Cotswolds. Just amazing and like no other. Worth every penny. Tours so look on line for location.

Bristol science museum possibly? Great for kids. Paddle in the fountains in millennium square

Pitt rivers in Oxford if you like shrunken heads and bones

Jurassic coast for beaches

Peppa pig world in poultens park, Southampton area. A toddlers paradise.

Steam trains

Port Meirion's not really on the way from Fishguard to Hastings......

Bath is lovely
Not been myself but heard there's a lot to see in Bristol.
Cardiff is nice too.

Difficult, once you add a toddler in to the mix - they probably don't want to see the things I would!
