Holidaying in north Devon

We fancy a holiday in north Devon this year as we have never been. Can anyone recommend anywhere? Probably around the Woolacombe area as I hear the beach there is pretty good. A pretty village is also on top of our list!

I was going to suggest Woolacombe or Croyde, we have been to both and have been back to woolacombe several times. Usually stay at woolacombe sands in a chalet, the only facilities we use are the pool and it has great easily walkable access to the beach and town. The club on the site is a bit tacky, but the staff are friendly and as I said we stay mainly for the pool, having stayed in self catering before we missed having access to a pool. Croyde we stayed in a cottage found with a google search. again lovely beach and cute little village gets very very busy and crowded in school holidays.

Sorry to be another westward ho doubter but I didn't like it at all. This was last summer, it looked very run down and dirty quite frankly, we were only visiting for the day from woolacombe, the beach is lovely, but the town itself wasn't very welcoming. there was a nice pub with a large garden and play area and an indoor play area though, but I can't remember the name of it now.
