We went to Banham Zoo near Diss in Norfolk a couple of weeks back. It was great - can't praise it highly enough. We camped at the site next door but no doubt there is a hotel in Diss or nearby you can stay at. Also went to Southwold (think that's Suffolk) to the beach.

Hunstanton is nice, so are Cromer and Wells. They are all on the coast if you want a beach type holiday.

Norfolk tourist info for you, meggle - there are lots of accommodation links or you could try ringing a local TIC, they can usually help with accommodation availability.

We had a week in Norfolk in July - the HOT week - we also went to Banham zoo, it was 32 degrees that day and I nearly died . We had never been to Norfolk before and we loved it, the countryside is lovely, the Broads are fun and there are some superb beaches, all very clean. I had a thread asking for advice on things to do before we went but I can't find it to link to

We stayed in Ludham which is a nice village in itself and handy for getting out to other places from.

Can't help you there I'm afraid, we live close enough to go there for the day.

Was thinking that Hunstanton might be your best bet with a 2yo though as there is more child friendly things to do there.

It will be very busy at this time of the year - but try the broads - you can hire a boat for the day, shopping, feed the ducks etc. Wroxham broad has the bure valley railway - a small train ride which takes you to Aylsham for some shopping trips etc (ds fell asleep on the train!) They also do 'thomas tank' days. Also try Wroxham barns which is a small farm where you can see and touch the animals, including lamb feeding. Very cheap entrance fee - around £3 for adults.

Sheringham, Cromer, Hunstanton all lovely quiet beaches with a few shops and few kids rides etc.
Banham Zoo is excellent, and also Thrigby Wildlife Gardens (near Yarmouth).

Guess where I am from...

This hotel in Wroxham has availability from Monday and Wroxham is one of the main towns on the Broads. (If you go there look out for Roy's, half the shops in town are called Roy's, it's really funny!)

Roys also have shops outside of Wroxham lol!

North Norfolk is beautiful.
I can recommend Cromer (for buckets and spades)..Sherringham is nice too. Wells next the sea, Cley, and if you can , do the boat trip out to the sand flats from the National trust place at Morston Quay . It's fantastic !! We went with my 3yr old and 9 year old and they loved it.

Where else...errrm Norwich is worth a look and is great for shopping and food (bit biased- i used to live there) but the castle museum is good and the cafe there is really nice if you want a reasonably priced place for lunch.

Sea Palling and Waxham are amazing sandy (if a bit windswept) beaches. SP is a very small resort and Waxham is empty. I was there 2 weeks ago and there were 3 of us on the beach!
