cottage and cooking or camping and eating out?

Which would you go for? Hire a cottage and do picnics, cook evening meal etc, or go camping and use the money you would save to eat out more? Ideally I would have cottage and eating out because I get cold camping and I'm fed up of cooking and cleaning all the time but budget is tight.....

We're in a caravan this week and have the cereal variety pack too, it's the only time the kids have it and also the only time I allow myself to have marmalade on white toast every day Grin

We do a cottage and cook. It's exhausting. I'm more tired when I get home but its time away together.

If we can afford it we buy ready meals and have one take away.

We manage to go on holiday for under £600/week for four of us and we rent nice cottages. A not nice cheap cottage is a waste of money because nothing works and its uncomfortable.

"We do a cottage and cook"

We do, and I don't end up exhausted because it is the one time where I cheat and buy ready made/short cut/simple things to cook. I am on holiday as well. I agree about getting what you pay for, and it's worth splashing out to get something nice, especially in this country because if the weather is awful you want somewhere warm and comfortable.

I think a cottage can be far less tiring than being at home, there's much less tidying, no admin sort of stuff to do, no and we cook much more simply. Plus DH being there, during the week normally I do most of the cooking as ge works later, it's nice being able to share it

sorry pressed post on phone too soon, it would be very different if you were the only adult though.
