anyone travel by train in Scotland a lot?

We want to buy return tickets from Glasgow to Corrour. But rather bizarrely, it's cheaper to buy tickets to Mallaig.

Is it OK to buy Glasgow-Mallaig tickets and get off at Corrour, or will the conductor get stroppy with us?!

Technically you're not allowed to do this. But I would, if there were no barriers to contend with (and I don't think there will be).

If there aren't any barriers then nothing will happen - if there are then the barriers won't accept your tickets and you'll get charged for Glasgow-Corrour on top of what you've already paid.

The barriers at queen street won't be a problem though. It's just if there were barriers at the other end. Small stations don't usually have them though.

There are no barriers. BUT it is a request stop: it's in the middle of nowhere - there are no roads, the only way you can get to it is by train. So the conductor will notice us getting off, in fact we will have to TELL him that we want to get off there, otherwise the train won't stop!

Is that why it's dearer because it is a request stop? No idea but just a thought.

Could you say children feeling travel sick or something?
