off on our holiday on saturday!!! (with good friends and their kiddies....!!!!!) and so we need some good ideas what to do about the area.... good beaches??? the well known and less known... good eateries.... places to go if the weather is rubbish??? national trust properties (always relied upon for civilised surroundings and a fairly good cup of tea!), playgrounds? farm parks? good pubs!

we're travelling from birmingham so any good ideas for a place to stop half way for lunch?

asking a lot but you knowledgeable mumsnetters know everything!!!!!

ta!

Marloes beach is fantastic - but a long walk from the car park (and even longer comoing back up ). Little and Broad haven are great when they tide is out - not much parking at Little Haven.

Tenby has great beaches too - and the trip over the Caldey isalnd is fun too.

The one at the top past St David's - can't remember its name is good.

Which part are you going to ?

And lots of lovely cliff top walks - but depends how old the kids are.

We went there lots pre kids - haven't been there recently though.

Barafundle Beach is fabulous - though a walk away from the amenities/car park at Stackpole (National Trust)which includes loos and NT tea room. Whilst there, visit Stackpole Quay and Bosherton Lily Ponds. Pembrokeshire is a large area with lots of lovely beaches, coastal walks etc. If the children are school age they will enjoy Oakwood theme park near Narberth.

I second Tenby, too. Good for the older ones, though poss not the 2.5 year olds, is the dinosaur park , and there's also Folly Farm which though a bit pricey, is quite a good bet if it rains - there's quite a bit under cover. Also recommend Manorbier which has a great castle (smaller than Pembroke though), above a lovely beach with a stream running down it to the sea - used to fascinate me when I was a kid (still does, tbh). Hope you have a great time.

sorry - I misread earlier and thought you said you were staying in Tenby.

Assuming you have a car - Pembroke is a great central place to be based.

There is a castle and a water mill that is fun at Carew (I think).

Beaches at Freshwater, Angle Bay, Dale, Stackpole as well as Tenby.

Go and see the oil tankers going into Milford Haven.

I like Suandersfoot myself - smaller than tenby and about 40 years behind (do they still sell fishing nets?) but I'm biased as I spent many happy hours at my granma's (and subsequently our) caravan there.
