West Country Disneyland

We were thinking of going to Disneyland Paris in the near future as we find it very family freindly (ie children always welcome every where) but I am getting a bit too pg to travel that far (or fly).

Does anyone know of anywhere in the west country that would be as good for families?

What about Longleat?

intergalacticwalrus · 31/07/2006 19:47

btw, where abouts are you?

Charlee · 31/07/2006 19:52

Longleat's lovely we live not to far from there, Paulton's parks great for children (taking DS there next week)

Marwell Zoo's good to.

Lots of things to do in S Somerset and Devon too. Cricket st Thomas (on the somerset/devon border) wildlife park is ofetn bandied about on our local TV and looks nice

We're in Bath.

We went to Longleat CenterParcs for romantic breaks before child but didn't notice if there was anything suitable (apart from the fab pool) for toddlers (dd is 2.5). Or do you mean Longleat - I've heard that's great but you can't stay there.

Must admit we're quite tempted to stay home, but we always end up doing the gardening or similar instead of relaxing...

Not sure exactly what you mean but have you tried Crealy Park near Exeter? Loads of stuff for LOs.

We used to go to woodlands or Flambards (cant find web page) which was great every one dressed up etc.

Paultons park is excellent!

joelallie · 01/08/2006 09:11

Where is Paultons park? Just being nosy really.

KBear · 01/08/2006 09:24

Agree - Paulton's Park is great. My two were 3 and 6 and I don't think there was anything they couldn't go on.

KBear · 01/08/2006 09:24

It's in the New Forest in Hampshire.

Paulton Park certainly looks interesting - this would be definitely be top of dh's list!

I suppose we aren't looking so much for an amusement park (tho' we do enjoy them - went to Disneyland Paris for honeymoon!), more a hotel or park type thing where children are welcome. (I should probably say DH would love to go to somewhere like Alton Towers but dd too young for the rides)

Some time ago I looked at the mumsnet list of places that were good to go to with children and most of them seemed to feature a lot of babysitting etc, but we want to be able to spend time together as a family, not have to pack dd off to a separate dinner or get the feeling she's not welcome in parts of the hotel.

I picked up some travel brochures the other day (for Scilly Isles) and the column 'children welcome' was filled with rather a lot of 'NOs'. Made me pretty . I'm sure other countries don't have such a problem with offspring!

Anyway, moan over. I'll have a look at these links. Thanks for the ideas!

Woodlands looks really good!

Quite exited now. Or maybe it's the jar of pickles I just ate....
