Dumfries and Galloway.

Loads to do. If you travelling from south ( I presume so) not too far to travel.

Fab beaches, castles, forests.

Cocoa bean choc factory, cream o Galloway outdoor, Lagan outdoor.

Swimming pools, ice skating etc in Dumfries if weather not great.

Loads more

Near Aviemore. Loads to do around Loch Morlich from going up Cairngorm mountain on the Furnicular railway , to cycling and canoeing (baby seats available); also near to the Landmark centre - woodland adventure park for all ages. Then pop up to the coast and eat chips on the sandy beach at Nairn ( there's a great play park there too)

We've been going to Mull for the last decade. The islands are fab - beaches and 'inland' stuff. You also have the fun of going on the ferry which the dcs love. If you're holidaying in Scotland though you need to go prepared for all weathers. We usually come back sunburnt but you will get rain too.

Could do with more on what you are looking for.
I can rave about endless white sandy beaches backed with mountains and great short walks through amazing woodland - but if you want Legoland Windsor with a scottish twist.....?

Scotland has such a variety - especially if you are prepared to organsie yourself and the kids and go off the well worn track (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jacobite Steam train, Falkirk Wheel....etc.)
Nothing wrong with this track - but there really is loads more - even for those with two year olds.

Also - will you have a car - or use Public Transport - either way you can get to come pretty out of the way places.
