Holidaying in Somerset in March - have we made a mistake?

Firstly I'm very sorry for anyone who is currently being affected by the flooding going on in various parts of the UK, I can't imagine how distressing it must be.

We have a holiday home booked somewhere between Glastonbury/Shepton Mallet for the first week of March & I was wondering whether there is any flooding in these areas at the moment and if so, how bad is it? We booked in this area as we've always wanted to visit Bath & Bristol. We have a newish baby so stupidly we hadn't been watching the news & didn't do much research before booking last week & it was only when my FIL mentioned the recent floods that the penny dropped that we might not actually be able to go. Again, I'm sorry for anyone affected by the floods & I hope I don't come across as insensitive but have we made a mistake making this booking? My brain feels like it's full of fog & we just wanted to get away somewhere in the UK for a break. I wish I'd done more research now!

Keeping my fingers crossed for better weather for the poor people who live in flooded areas!

I go to Glastonbury regularly, in fact, I will be there next weekend for Imbolc celebrations so I will report back.

It's not looking good there but I don't think anywhere is cut off.

You will have a lovely time if you dress for the weather. It is beautiful even in the rain.
Lots to do in Bristol and Bath.

You could be really lucky in March, we often have a warm, dry spell before our summer rains return.

Glastonbury is my favourite place ever.

(If you want to PM me re cafes etc I will let you know my findings based on many years of research!!)

Thank you Earthymama, if you could let me know what it's like, I'd really appreciate it! We're staying near the village of Pilton, if you know it? We've always wanted to explore this area of England and thought we'd take advantage of cheaper term-time rentals whilst I'm on maternity leave, completely missing all of the weather related news due to being busy with the new baby! Any ideas you have for places to visit/eat will be most welcome - I'll PM you. I've bought myself a rough guide with the intention of doing some reading up before we go (I'm a bit of a geek, like to plan what we're doing in advance so not to waste time while we're away!)

I hope for the local residents things aren't too bad & that we'll be able to get out exploring, even if we have to wear our waterproofs!

Thanks again x

I live in Shepton Mallet, about 2-3 miles from Pilton and it's absolutely fine! No problems getting to Bath and Bristol at all, don't worry!

I live in the area. Don't worry at all. That area is ok. It's only a few villages which are really badly affected. Besides March is a while, it'll be fine by then x
