Okay; the "rules"

Not fussed about scenery - we live in NZ got plenty of that.

Not fussed about rural - we got plenty of that too.

Needs to be self catering - or very very allergy friendly.

Will be June/July am very flexible with dates at this stage.

I really want it to be something you can't do here - we don't have Centerparcs or anything in NZ - nearest is a campsite with motel units.

So all suggestions cheerfully researched - my dad was talking about getting a 10 pound travel lodge - hum, doesn't fit my self catering or stuff for a 4 year old to do on site - but hey it's only 10 pounds.

I need to call in the real experts.

That looks lovely, ds is allergic to eggs so the animal feeding and egg collecting could be a problem (if someone dropped one)- we do stay in similar cottages on farms here, but they don't have the swimming pool and soft play.

What about a traditional British seaside holiday? Southwold is a gorgeous, old fashioned, pretty British seaside town with very clean beaches and tons of pubs and restaurants offering local and home cooked produce.

There are tons of self-catering places in Southwold, I couldn't recommend any particular one myself but someone may.

That's a good idea - we have lots of seaside here, but it's not like the UK with little places actually on the seafront.

Are you considering Centerparcs? Don't know about the allergy-friendly side of things, but you can self-cater. There's loads to do for a 4 year old, indoors and out.

threebob - Tim the Farmer is very good at "accommodating" problems - he has been know to "find" chocolate eggs (or appropriate substitutes) in the hen house for those who can not eat chicken eggs

Very clever hens to work out which little children can not eat eggs

what about asking some mumsnetters to meet you and show you their part of the world?

I'll meet you and show you about

Where are you mogwai?
