Cornwall - what to take for a week away?

We are off to Cornwall on Saturday for a week self catering and packing is a pet hate of mine. I've largely sorted clothes for ds but can't decide what I will need. If I take shorts and skirts I will probably freeze but don't want to end up taking everything! Is anyone down there at the moment that can advise what it's like and what to take? Or anyone have a packing list? Thanks.

Marking my place, just booked, were going 18th, I'm packing for boiling hot sun, rain and freezing cold! Shorts and fleeces will be the order of the day. Only the second time we've done Cornwall in Summer so the weather is my only hesitation...but it beats getting the shits in Egypt which was our other late holiday booking option.

Take a cardigan/jumper and a pair of jeans and a couple of pairs of socks, that I do and doesn't take up much space.

Where about are you going.

We are going to Liskeard near Bodmin. We have been before but I always over pack and have a small car this year so am trying to be more logical and avoid just emptying the contents of my wardrobe into the boot! What I wouldn't give to be one of those women with a capsule wardrobe or who could come and go through my wardrobe and sort it into outfits for every occasion for me!

I live in Cornwall. The summer has been roasting but the last week has been hideously bad rain. Its brightening up again though!!!
Take:
. flip flops/sandals
. skirts shorts dresses
. light jumpers

Plus
. wellies
. rain coats
.lots of jeans and jumpers.

Its supposed to be hot for a couple of weeks but you can never be too sure down here. Don't want to get caught out in the cxornish weather Grin

Sorry that really does not help the packing light situation. But it really is changeable at the mo. I've been roasting in my garden in my pants all summer, but right now I'm sat outside in jeans and a long sleeved top. Yesterday the rain was so bad that had to get ds changed after running from driveway to house. But
Like I said meant to cheer up so hopefully it is nice for your holiday x

I live not far from where you're going. Take layers. It's damp and mild at the moment, rarely gets that cold so I'd go with a capsule wardrobe of casual clothes, flat shoes and a waterproof jacket.

Striped tops, cropped jeans and converse, havaianas or Birkenstocks if you want to fit in with the locals Smile

It hasn't been cold for weeks, even when it's been (torrentially) rainy. If you're self catering, and you like food with furrin ingredients (spices, curry pastes, tahini etc.), do bring them with you. Actually, could you bring extra for me? Grin

We holiday in Cornwall once/twice a year and it's so variable! We'll be back there two weeks today and I'll be packing summer stuff (so, dresses, skirts/tops, shorts/vests, flip flops) as well as autumny kind of clothes (chinos, breton tops, sleeveless tops with a cardi, pumps/converse) as well as the obligatory wellies and a couple of hoodies and a waterproof. You have to cover all bases!

Thanks everyone - lets hope the torrential rain stays away next week! I'm hopeless at this time of year as seem to have missed the summer stuff in the shops. I have some shorts and skirts but no 3/4 or lightweight trousers. Will have to bring jeans and see how I get on! Converse and stripey tops already out ... Will match ds!
