We have a day to explore London. My 16 year old dd is in Greenwhich over the summer with the national youth theatre, the day we, hubby and I, collect her we have booked an 8 pm train home all the way up North. What should we do, what's worth exploring? TIA x

Do you want things to do with dd, or just you and dh? And do you want it to be in Greenwich?

In Greenwich, I like the Maritime Museum. In central London, my vote would always be for a nice lunch, plus Sir John Soanes House and the Hunterian Museum. The Portrait Gallery is good for a mooch for an hour or so too.

My default is always the British Museum because it's just brilliant - and a good-sounding Vesuvius exhibition there at the moment. Plus - nice area; you can wander around Bloomsbury, get to Covent Garden etc easily.

But if you want to stay in Greenwich there's the Cutty Sark and the Royal Observatory as well as the Maritime Museum - all well worth a trip.

Thanks Remus, should of made it clear, thanks for pointing that out. Yes the 3 of us, not necessarily in Greenwich, i assume she would of done all that by the time we get there. we need to make our way back to kings cross so anywhere in between I suppose. Any sights she would be interested in or anything worth doing? TBH although I've used London public transport before, I'm dreading it this time round and hoping I don't get lost lol

You could try getting to the ticket booth in Leicester Square early and seeing if you can get tickets for a show. We've just taken 16 year old dd2 and her friend to see 'Wicked' and they absolutely loved it.

What sort of things does your dd like? A walk down the Southbank and a trip on the Eye would be good, if it's a nice day.

Remus, dd has seen wicked, all she likes to do is sing and dance, although she did mention wanting to see the palace.

Just had a look, shame street dance wasn't on when we are there.

Is 'Stomp' on? Or 'Billy Elliot' maybe?
