North or south coast Cornwall in summer holidays

We are going to Cornwall camping for the first time with our three children this summer. Dh can only go from the 13 th July so we are taking the kids out of school for the last week of term. We were planning to go to Hayes near st Ives for the first week then to looe for the second week but s friend said not to bother with st Ives in July as it will be so busy and queuing traffic to get anywhere. Is this true? Should we avoid north Cornwall and just stick with the south? Help please?

personally we prefer SE Cornwall around Looe and polperro. it is much quieter on the a38 than the a30 and easier to get round. St ives padstow newquay just get mobbed in the summer. there is a nice campsite at Polzeath though right on the cliffs you could be in the sea in minutes. the rame peninsular in SE cornwall has plenty of camping. definitely worth a look.

Come to the south! People seem to forget the se coast of cornwall thankfully. The north is chocker and really not pleasant. Google fowey, whitsand bay too. Great beaches away from the crowds.

Just making sure this is on my feed as we'll be visiting Cornwall for the first time this summer.

We've stayed in St Ives lots of times and yes it does get busy. But, if you're going before the holidays break up, I think you'll be fine.

St Ives is so lovely that we spent most of the time on one of the beaches. We have a beach tent so the rain didn't even put us off! We just wrapped up and got on with it.

Also because we live rurally we like staying in the middle of everything and love being able to walk everywhere. So we often didn't move form st Ives for the whole week.
