Travelodges in London

I am looking to book a cheap break in Central London wiht DH, DD (aged 6), my mum and me. We're looking at Travelodges as these look affordable. Does anyone have any experience of using a family room? The sleeping arrangments would be a double bed with a pullout bed for DD. Are these comfortable? Do they provide bedding? Any one got any tips for a Travelodge they have used and would recommend? TIA.

Yes they provide bedding. Travelodges all feel incredibly run down in my experience.

We stayed in the covent garden one once and it was nice, quite small rooms but most london hotels are. Shower only iirc but quite modern and newly decorated.

Tbh unless you can get one of the £30/night deals you can usually get the Hilton at Canary Wharf for a similar price.

Stayed in the Travelodge in Southwick too which wasn't as nice, bit run down and a bit noisy

Oh yes they provide bedding and towels

The London youth hostels are very good also, and are modern and cheap. You can book family room also.

Consider staying at the one at caterham ... yeah it's further out but there is a train station across the road that has a direct train to central London (lots of stops but no changes) that takes about half an hour. Its much nicer than some of the more central ones.

If you have a car they have good parking too.

It's where me and dh stay when we fancy a trip to London.

We stayed in the Premier Inn in County Hall. Family room was about £90, plenty big enough, comfy and view of river, London Eye etc. DCs get free breakfast if you pay and it is eat as much as you like, so we stuffed and didn't need lunch

Recommend premier inn they are very good.

Brand new travel lodge in Balham SW12 20 mins from West End from 45 quid a night with family rooms. Right near the station

We've done the family room thing at the County Hall Premier Inn as well and it was fine - as a location you probably can't beat it. Right next to the Eye, the Aquarium etc.

It was about four years ago so it might have improved but... I spent one night in the Covent Garden Travelodge and it was the worst night I've ever spent in a hotel. The room was big but very very tatty and grubby. The room was cold, the duvet thin and the pillows flat. We stayed there because I had a work do nearby yet despite the alcohol barely slept. At 8.30 Saturday morning a lorry started reversing outside our window, yes we were on the first floor overlooking the loading bay. We escaped very shortly after.

I would second the Greenwich Novotel. It's right next to the station and Greenwich is lovely. The Novotel tower bridge is good too. Their family rooms are fab. The sofa bed is more like two separate single beds pushed together. Much more room than a standard family room and the breakfasts are lovely.

I stayed at Covent Garden Travelodge last weekend. Tiny room, bedding thin & poor quality. My key card didn't work once & so I had to keep plodding up and down the stairs to have it reactivated. Very poor for the price. Avoid like the plague.

Avoid like the plague. Especially the one in Covent Garden. Run down, horrible bedding, whole floor stunk of cannabis. Lock on the door didn't feel secure so I pushed the chair up against the door handle for the night! Never again.
Pay a few quid extra and go for a Premier Inn. Or an Ibis, the one next to Euston is basic but perfectly fine.

I've always found travel lodges fine but then I've never stayed in the central London ones.... only the caterham one as mentioned earlier and that was fine :) ... and a few in Norfolk :) .. maybe the London ones are worse... I dont know.

On another note premier inn at heath row is amazing ! Stay there every time I fly and I love it ... sound proofed too !

Stayed at the Farringdon one recently and it was fine, booked a double room but it actually had a double bed and a single in there too. Very basic and a bit run down but clean and big room, especially by London standards

I'd consider a premier inn. We stayed in the one at Tower Bridge and it was fine. There were 6 of us and it was £78pp for a 3 night break including breakfast. It was a bargain x

Holiday Inn Express in Hammersmith is goodl - Wetherspoons next door, Marks and Spencers nearby where you can pick up a picnic on your way out. And it's on the central line, just a few stops from the museums etc. No dearer than Travelodge either and you get a good cooked breakfast included.

We stayed in the Travelodge Windsor last week which is one hour from London by train and was very very simple to get in and out. Our rooms were £12 a night (sale obvs!) and Windsor is just lovely.

There's a premiere inn and Hilton in islington with buses and tubes to the west end taking 10 mins. It's also a great place for dinners etc with tons of cafes and restaurants. Both hotels are great and reasonably priced
