Dhs birthday at the beginning of Feb and have a free ferry crossing from Ireland, where can we drive to easily( >100miles) for 4 relaxing days?
Have been to Liverpool which we really enjoyed but want something else. Dh doesn't play golf. We don't mind either rural or urban or a mix.AND it's winter......
Anybody any bright ideas?

Chester is nice. Boutique shops. Lots of restaurants. You could even ditch the car and go direct on the train.

Conwy good for mooching about castle walls and tea shops.

Hmm thanks rainy. Will have a look at those. Was in Chester about 25 years ago I thinkGrin

Thankyou

I second Chester. Good zoo as well.

Blue Planet aquarium and Cheshire oaks retail outlet are fairly close by too.

Other than that what about getting snowed in in Snowdonia! Nice snug log cabin, real fire and mountains?

Cremolafoam · 30/08/2012 21:51

Yes serin - that's sort of what I'm thinking.
Need a nice pub with food close by for dh.
Hmm snowdonia...

Chester is lovely. But as a proper Anglesey girl, I'd say why leave the island? If it's good enough for Kate Middleton... Amazing beaches ( for windswept walks in February!) and scenery... I would recommend Beaumaris, castle, good hotels and really good food. Will you have a car? PM me- I can help here!

PrincessOfWails · 31/08/2012 08:29

Ooh, you will have a car. Endless possibilities!

Cremolafoam · 31/08/2012 09:15

Thanks princess - Beaumaris is beautiful - have stayed at the Bulls Head about 2 years ago and thought it was really lovely.
Would def go back.
Have been looking at cottages in Snowdonia area this last wee while.
Not too sure about areas tho. Am thinking mountains with view and q remote. Any ideas?
