Cheap UK September break with toddler

Have a couple of weeks off work at the end of September and would like to get away for a week. Any suggestions for a cheap holiday in uk?

Ideally somewhere with a swing/slide area or near a park. It's just me and 2-year-old dd, but she needs her own room otherwise she won't sleep. Toddler-friendly swimming pool would be a bonus but I can just take her to the local pool a couple of times instead. I'm veggie so holiday on a working cattle/sheep farm wouldn't suit.

Blew this year's holiday budget earlier in the year when I pushed the boat out to go to France and forgot to budget for passports, so I'm looking for as cheap as possible whilst still being nice.

Camping is out for practical/safety reasons, but caravan/chalet is fine as long as it's a nice holiday park. Butlins/Pontins style not my thing.

Needs to be no more than 4 hours drive from Nottingham, so Somerset/ Cumbria/ North Wales/ Norfolk are the limits but closer would be better.

Northumberland is a wonderful area for a holiday. Bamburgh has a long sandy beach with a playground at the green behind the beach. There are lots of nearby castles to visit including Alnwick with its garden with several water fountains, which toddlers love.
This company is excellent and some of their cottages include a swimming pool for the week and it is very child friendly, although may be just too expensive. You could ring and ask if they have any deals for September?
There are caravans at seahouses, also with the swimming pool, although we haven't stayed in them, the park has won awards.
In Norfolk,Wells-next-the-sea is a great area for children, with a lovely beach and playground. Can't recall any nearby swimming pools, though.

Put your dates into the Hoseasons site - sometimes expensive, sometimes cheap. Many parks have swimming pools and play areas. And the caravans are fine safety wise, easier than a tent.
There is entertainment in the evenings, but you can be snuggled up in your van with the wee one so you don't have to suffer that!

Thanks both, I'll check those out tonight.

Unfortunately those suggestions are over budget for me for second holiday shoots but I'll keep them in mind for main holidays in future.

iggi do you have recommendations for particular sites as I've heard mixed reviews of Hoseasons.

Any more suggestions?

I've only stayed on a H site near Morecambe (Marine something) which we liked - decent play areas (indoor and out) and a pool.
I notice you mention North Wales - have stayed in an appartment in Llandudno once which worked out about the same price as a caravan nearby. Great place for kids, playground opposite flat, mine to visit, cablecar, tram thingy etc.

Thanks iggi.

DD insisted on stopping wearing nappies the day after my original post so just occurred to me that I'd better stay somewhere with a washing machine just in case she hasn't mastered toilet training by then or the change of scene triggers accidents, so Hoseasons probably not the best option. I'll check out Llandudno - always love going home to Wales.

The bargain holidays in The Sun newspaper are really good for getaways. Was very doubtful to say the least when I first booked one but have been going twice a year with these offers for over 5 yrs now and have found them really good. Means we can get away a few more times in addition to our main Summer hols. Worth buying the paper just for the savings. Token coming up in the next week or so I think!

what about one of the caravan parks in Cei Newydd?

Sandy Balls caravan/camping site in the New Forest is great - we've been the last two years. Got a nice playground, pool, soft play, and in v pretty countryside. Peppa Pig World is near too!
