Finally decided on our trip and this is where we're going. Taking bikes and booked into Sprowston Marriott (got a fab deal). Staying this Sunday - Wednesday.

Just researching other things to do and scrum my places to eat - anyone got any tips or ideas? Anything we need to know about Bewilderwood before we go?

Bewilder wood is brilliant; we live about an hour away and have been several times. Fun for adults as well as children. Norwich castle is good if you fancy venturing into the city centre, and the shopping in Norwich is great too.

Banham zoo is very good.
Hire a boat at Wroxham for a couple of hours?

MegBusset · 18/08/2012 23:38

Bewilderwood is great. It ain't cheap though - take a packed lunch to cut down on cost. Dinosaur Adventure is really good too :)

OoooOh thanks for the tips. Any good reccomendations for eateries in the area? Doubt we'll eat at hotel, sounds poor value.

HAVE you looked at Tripadvisor? They normally have recommendations under different catagories - so things to do, places to eat, etc. I've never eaten anywhere Wroxham way so can't help sorry.

The pub at Wroxham at the riverside does an OK sandwich

There is a fab Veggie/vegn pub in Little Plumstead called Brickmaker's something or other

The Wayfarer Pub south of Stalham is nice but not very cheap, but the butchers in Stalham do the most divine meat filled baguettes at lunchtime

I second Megbusset's suggestion of the dinosaur park. My DCs love it there, and there is loads to do, I think there is a petting farm there now too. Also like Meg says, definitely take a packed lunch to bewilderwood.

Bewilderwood is ACE, but will be extra busy in a school hol weekend, so pick at weekday if you can. Can you get hold of the book in time to read before you go? www.amazon.co.uk/Boggle-at-Bewilderwood-Tom-Blofeld/dp/0955554306/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345374383&sr=8-1t's great if you know the story first and cheaper than buying the book when you get there.

Not Wayfarer.....duh!

Wayford Bridge

I responded to your other thread about cycle routes but you didn't answer so not sure what kind of cycling you're after.

Bure Valley railway is obvious choice, but you'd have to drive to one of it or the other.

KatyMac · 22/08/2012 12:38

There used to be cycles to hire at Bewilderwood

Emandlu · 22/08/2012 12:41

You can get a guided tour of the broads too through the Broads Authority in Wroxham - it was really nice and I'd definitely recommend it. It was cheaper than hiring a boat for a couple of hours and you don't have the stress of driving it.

Don't eat at the hotel, the staff are lovely but the food was v poor quality for the price and v v slow service. It is cheap pub food at restaurant prices. Find somewhere else! Bewilderwood is great fun, have a great time!

Thanks all. We had a great time. Ate in the Waffle House twice as it was soooo good and the staff and vibe were fantastic. lljkk - thanks for the cycle route feedback - sorry didn't reply to other one - had a few on the go and lost track of them. We ended up in Whitlingham Country Park and did the route around there which was great and challenging enough for our dd.

Bewilderwood was fab but we got there really early and were done by 1300 so we ate offsite.

We thought Norwich was lovely but ran out of time for shopping so no idea about the shops.

The Marriott was incredibly hot and no air con and the food was very expensive so we only had breakfast there but the leisure facilities were great.

Thanks again for all your ideas.
