I don't know - but Pennywell Farm is really good.

Absolutely! I was there 3 weeks ago with my 7 yo - we arrive in time for the opening (10am) and stay until the last thing in the evening - and there's an activity every 1/2 an hour, but plenty of other things to do too.

Met another MNetter there with her 6 yo ds - and the two boys did most things together but somethings apart (which was absolutely fine). The restaurant is relatively basic but fine - food that children will eat, plenty of places to picnic as an alternative.

We've been every year for the last 5 years.... (when on holiday!)

looks great just had a look!

Can you recommend any lovely places to eat as well in that area....we are staying around Modbury/Kingsbridge and want nice/good pub food with perhaps a garden?????

There's a nice pub in Stokenham - in the centre, opposite the Church Car park, with a garden. Previous years we've eaten on the seafront in Torcross. There's a really nice deli with a garden in Kingsbridge - walk up the hill and past the arcaded bit on the left and they're on the left just before the car park entrance (there's also a really good toy shop in kingsbridge where we buy wetsuits for ds (they allow them to be tried on for size). We went to the Oyster Shack this year (Bigbury direction) and DS and DH enjoyed that a lot - not such a wide choice (unsurprisingly) for vegetarians! The most wonderful beach is East Portlemouth - opposite Salcombe - National Trust car park, OK toilets - lovely little beach with other children to play with in the stream that runs down to the sea. Thurleston has a nice beach with a lifeguard - just a bit south of the village.

wow thank you! We base our hols around Bigbury Beach that's why we stay this end! Yes I know the "toy shop" well in Kingsbridge - huge tantrum delivered in their 2 years ago when DS wanted a huge lego star wars ship for £60!!!!

We went to the Oyster Shack last year but it was empty!!!!

Oh the beach at East Portlemouth sounds lovely an definately worth a trip to

thank you will try and find the name of the pub at Stokenham

Church House Inn. Google Maps is your friend!

East Portlemouth is very different from the one we went to (for the first time) at Thurleston - its very sheltered, when you're swimming you don't seem to feel the impact of waves pushing you either way much - there are a few boats moored sometimes that you have to avoid. Its quite shallow for quite a way out - but its the damming opportunities in the stream and the potential to make friends for the day there that DS really likes. You can get the ferry across to Salcombe just down the road - and they do coffee and sandwiches there too - although we take a picnic and settle in for the day. Don't be put off by the narrow access route - its worth it!
