Ok....I need help! I am looking to book next years holiday.Having once again done last minute cheapo caravan holiday this year I netted to find something a bit more comfortable for next year! I am looking for:
Self catering cottage
For 2 adults and 6DC(must all have proper bed, not sofa bed)
Indoor swimming pool
Within 1/2 hour drive of nice kiddie friendly sandy beach
Would consider Devon, Cornwall or Norfolk
Under £2000, the nearer to £1000 the better!

So...yes I am along a lot.....but I don't think I can face 6 DC in a grimy caravan again!

Thanks toffee. They look lovely cottages, but there isn't a pool Sad

Ideally would like one with a pool as the kids spend hours in the pool on caravan park holidays and it is cheaper than paying loads for days out!

www.vauxhall-holiday-park.co.uk/ - great pool near Great Yarmouth.

When you say you must all have a bed, do you mean the children or all of you? Most caravans sleep up to 8 and thats including a sofa bed.

Vagaceratops · 09/08/2012 10:35

If you and your DH dont mind sleeping on a sofa bed, then Ruda holiday park near Crotde does an 8 berth caravan for £1099 for a week next august.

Thanks for the suggestions. Want beds in bedrooms for all for next year, not sofa bed. Trying to cater for the needs of 6 kids aged 4 to14 is challenging and not having to use lounge as a bedroom would help!

Then I think you will struggle with the 'standard' accommodation on most caravan parks, because the maximum is 6-8.

However if you look at www.ukcaravans4hire.com/ you might be able to find a private rental caravan (on a park so you can use all the facilities)

proper house overlooking beach

This meets your criteria and has indoor pool & we have stayed in another property here. You just need to be flexible on county !

OverflowingMum · 10/08/2012 21:07

Iseenodust thanks! That looks absolutely lovely. Dont mind what county really! Have never been to pembrokeshire before but have heard good things about it.
The facilities there do look lovely and being so close to beach is a bonus.
It seems quite a big complex with lots of properties....does the pool get very busy? Do they operate a booking system or can you use it at any time?
Have added this to my shortlist and requested a brochure. Thanks.

thanks for other suggestions.
Have just returned a day early from our caravan break of this year. younger Kids had fun but tbh it was a horrendous week. Sad Will definitely NOT be doing caravan again!(although have had better caravan experiences in the past)
am now desperately compiling shortlist for next year to cheer myself up!

I woouldn't describe it as big complex. Pool only tended to be busy teatime as people go to the beaches / outings. It's close to Tenby and there are some huge uncommercialised beaches further round the coast.

Coombe Mill in North Cornwall is where we go - it's cottages and lodges on a farm. very family friendly with animal feed runs, lots of play spaces (inside and out). Only downside is it doesn't have a swimming pool, but there is one literally 5m drive up the road, maybe closer actually. Why don't you have a look at the website and see what you think? The family that own the estate have 6 kids themselves so they'll know exactly what you're looking for! Hope this helps, good luck!

OverflowingMum · 13/08/2012 22:14

thanks starling they do look nice
isee thats good to know. Have just been looking more at them and they are looking a very good option....I'm even fantasizing that me and dh might find it an almost relaxing holiday....(like the idea of a nice massage in the spa!)

We go to Wringworthy holiday cottages in looe in cornwall. it has a swimming pool, a huge barn with things for the kids to do like air hockey. the cottages are all lovely and clean, its a small site with less than 10 so you arent all packed in. their largest cottage sleeps 8 and they are all beds no pull outs or sofas and looking at the price list we got earlier in the year it is £1330 for school hols so fits your bill. have a look also at group accomodation and bigholidayhouse websites as you might find something better to suit here.
