i have 2 ds, 3.5 and 6. Im on my own and really want to take them away during the summer holidays. Trouble is last year i took them to butlins in bognor but it was v stressful and came home early!! (major failure on my part :( ) i found it hard as due to their age they were seperated (even the soft play) of which i wasnt allowed in and so i couldnt watch both of them or leave one safely whilst i stayed with the other. I also found there wasnt alot to do there when it rained other than swim and that is a no go really as neither can swim and the wave machine was almost constant!

Any recommendations in southern uk that we could possibly enjoy together no matter that we are due a wet summer?

many thanks

Center Parcs Longleat?

Have just got back from there, it bucketed down all week, still had a great time with 4 year old. You will need £££s though as it's almost school holidays now...

The unison cottages in croyde bay Devon are lovely
I've been on my own with 2 boys and it was fine. Lots to entertain them, people for you to talk to and the food is amazing!

A friend of mine goes on single parent holidays, where she plans with other single mums to rent out a rank of holiday cottages, some time spent apart but handy that the kids can play together and other mums to chat to in the evening. I have no idea how she goes about it but they are a great thing for her, a bit of support and fun. Have a google and see what you can find.

Love Croyde it's best if you have a car to get about, the beach is lovely, even in the rain, nice cafe nearby. Not sure what attractions are nearby though.

There's a few things nearby, sheep county or something was good fun. My eldest took surfing lessons. A few different beaches with rock pools
Yes you do need a car

Does it have to be the UK? A cheap last minute holiday abroad for a week and you'd have the good weather.

Or have a look at Park Resorts as it has at the side 'Things to Do in..." and you tick your requirements. I've linked Kent as it is the farthest east, which is less wet usually than the west.

thanks guys, would have to be school holidays. center parcs is £1000 for a mon-fri (and always pay alot more whilst there as only swimming is free!) butins is not much cheaper. /looked a haven but i dont think caravanning in the damp weather good idea as sets of ds asthma. Have looked abroad yes, but flights seem so expensive??

DS1 has asthma and we have never had a problem in a caravan, even in the wet weather.

What about a Haven/Park Resorts type place. They have lots to do but aren't as busy as Butlins.

Pinner35 · 15/07/2012 20:20

Butlins always have deals on.....never do you pay the advertised price. We have just come back from Bognor with DD's aged 4 and 2....it bucketed down most of the week but we still had a blast.
