Can you tell me about Pembrokeshire?

I keep hearing people raving about going to Pembrokeshire and am thinking of a holiday there this summer. What sort of place is it/what do you do there/will there be any accomodation left? Really any info at all would be appreciated.

It's beautiful countryside, golden sandy empty beaches and tons of stuff to do.

We usually stay in Tenby and go on visits from there. Oakwood amusement park, FollyFarm is fab, Pembroke Castle is one of the best (birth place of the Tudor monarchy), Caldey Island Monastry, sea fishing boats, castel henlys is great, we also went to a gold mine but I can't remember the name. We've been going for 30 years and we still haven't run out of stuff to do.

think cornwall with less people. lovely beaches, rugged. south pembrokeshire has more in the way of things to do and towns. north is more remote but still lovely. we booked the first holiday cottage over a year in advance and even then the first week option had gone, but it was beautiful.

Saundersfoot is beautiful, the beach is lovely, locals really friendly. Loads to do in the area, fab holiday

You should try coasteering especially if you've got teenagers. Towns to go - St David's, Narbeth, Solva; avoid Haverfordwest unless for really hood Friday farmers' market. Barafundle beach is staggeringly beautiful and Pembroke castle is well worth visiting too.

Whoops. Really good market - it's not some scary gangland market...

I can vouch for the hospital at Haverfordwest !

(though not me this time Grin

We stayed here. A bit inland but a lovely place to stay.

From St Davids you can take a very short boat trip to Ramsey Island, which is an RSPB reserve. It's absolutely beautiful, and a great place to take a picnic lunch and spend a few hours wandering about and enjoying the wildlife and the breathtaking scenery.

Also Oakwood - brilliant theme park near Narbeth. And Laugharne (near St Clears, Carmarthen, would be on your way there) is the birthplace of Dylan Thomas.

We've been going to Tenby for the past 7 years and love it. In fact if I'm going next Friday with the kids and booked the wrong train tickets (booked for 27th), so if anyone wants them (1 adult, 2 kids, Fri 27th July 12.45pm from London Paddington), I'll take an offer!

We live here and love it. I would recommend a cottage rather than a tent as I have witnessed some very soggy camping holidayers this year!

Can't wait until next month. Off to Tenby with my boys. Was brought up there. Love it. Its great for kids.
