How much is a black cab from London Liverpool Street to Paddington Station?
Will there be plenty of availability on a weekday morning when the Olympics are on?
Can it take a baby in a buggy, two adults and two kids?
Sorry for thicko parts of question but I am a Townie Bumpkin!

It would be quicker just to take the tube. Pain in the arse with a buggy but it is possible. I'm saying it'd be more than £20 in a taxi, probably more like £30 or so.

Or you could get a bus, the 23 goes Liverpool St to Paddington.

Go to the tfl website and change your mobility to using lifts/escalators.

Thank you both, I think it can be done by tube if change at S.Kensington according to the tfl website - will call them to be sure.

Will cost more like £30 so unless you are dead set against the tube, I would recommend tubing it.

You can just get the Hammersmith and City line straight round, no need to change.

Thanks very much all but yellowraincoat but I need to phone and check as when I change my mobility requirements to no escalators it only gives me the Circle/District line option not the Hammersmith & City line - I need lift access ideally if taking the tube :)

Hammersmith and City line goes to a completely different bit of Paddington to the Circle line so no lifts there. However, you could just hop out at one of the preceding stations, stay on the same platform and wait for a district/circle line train and get on that. (The Circle and H&C go from the same platform at Liverpool st anyway, though.)

thanks for confirming that - I will have my buggy, babe, two kids, mother and a suitcase so want to avoid escalators - especially as it will be rush hour and during the Olympics.
I am not sure how much extra time to allow as my train departs Padding 10.45.
At least DH is going to book time off work to come with and see us off and he commuted on the tube for years. An extra pair if elbows will help right? Also this is probably a resounding no but do u think I could get away with taking my buggy and car seat on the tube and
train? If not ill have to just take the car seat on the chassis and not collapse it if I can get away with it and will be stuck in Wales without a proper buggy. returning home is nite in rush hour and no time restraint but going there is going to be hellish me thinks.

As a general rule for tube travel I'd say no more than 1 large item per adult, but you could totally manage a buggy and a suitcase with 2 adults.
Also, do not despair - Londoners do stop to help people get buggies/cases up and down stairs all the time! An escalator won't be a problem at all. Just allow yourself plenty of extra time so you are not in a flap.

thanks :) I have used the tube hundreds of times but always avoided it when my elder two were babies and have those new baby sleep dep nerves about everything. Now that DH is going to be there to hold the kids hands I am so much happier. I don't fancy the bus in rush hour as middle munchkin gets travel sick hence the train.
