How do the sun 9.50 holidays work?

Ive just collected my first token with a view of doing this but am completly baffled. The idea ive got so far is that once you have collected your tokens you attach a cheque for £9.50 per adult and child going on the holiday. If in the end you dont get to the holiday due to dates/availability ect do they send your money back :S

There only seems to be a small period to go in which goes over the childrens october half term so i imagine would be in high demand.

Anyone used them before and care to explain in easy terms Blush

The terms and conditions will be online somewhere no doubt.

But there's nearly always extra charges for entertainment/swimming passes, linen, gas, electricity etc...

We booked one years ago with my PILs but we werent' allowed to take the dog unless we rented a private van.

By the time my PILs had added on all the extra charges, we'd only spent £25 more than them to stay in the same caravan park.

Also, they ended up in a damp, smelly chalet that looked like it had survived 2 world wars, and we had a lovely modern, clean caravan.

Moral of the story...always check the entire price and then Google the holiday park to see how much private renters are charging.

Think ill have a look how much it would be over october half term as with all of us it is 47.50 in standard accomidation not including any passes or other entertainment features. You may well be right and it could end up costing the same about. Plus im dubious about us getting the half term week and cant take the children out of school.

Me and my other half had a sun break at Kessingland in June and were very impressed with it. We thought we would get a small horrible caravan for 2 of us but got a 6 birth one, with a sea view. We didn't pay for passes and there were 4 stapled to the paperwork when we got the keys. We went to the entertainment place (day time) and no one wanted to look at the passes any way. Not sure if they would in the evening.

Have jotted down available dates, i imagine if i sent in cheque and the available dates werent suitable cheque would be sent back rather than processed. Just reading the T and C's as we speak.

Hi there - we've moved this one to the 'UK' topic in the Holidays/Travel section.

I think you can only do it online if you get the priority booking letter (and have been before). Yes you can usually get in entertainment complex on day but will almost always get passes checked at night. I have been a few times and its always been pleasant but last time saved all the tokens and then checked the price and availability and it was just too expensive and couldn't get the dates we wanted. We will try again this time but sometimes it doesn't save you anything.

The first time we used the vouchers we paid the basic 9.50 each for the standard caravans which are usually older and no heating in bedrooms which is needed in the autumn! In the later years i discovered that if you wanted to upgrade to a morden caravan with heating in all rooms etc, its cheaper to book direct with the holiday park thn upgrade with the sun! So i dont bother with the sun vouchers anymore.
However if you are happy with the standard accomodation then the sun is good value for money.

If you are looking at October, you may be better off checking out the different companies websites first.

The sun offer always sounds like a good deal, but often during quieter times of year holiday companies do really good offers which work out better than the sun once you add all the extras.

Depending on the area you want to go, here are some of the different holiday companies

Park Holidays UK
Park Resorts
Haven
