I have booked a week there in a cottage later in the year with my husband, 2 daughters (3.5 and 6 months), my parents in law and sister in law. Please could I have recommendations of what to do - I love the idea of Bewilderwood but will my DD1 be too young to really appreciate it?

With young DCs I would definitely go to Pettits My DCs loved this at that age, it's not too big, almost everything is included once you're in. In fact I can't believe no one has mentioned it so far!

Oh yes Pettits is great for LOs. My girls loved the Dinosaur Adventure when we went a few years ago. Banham Zoo is good, but may be a bit of a hike from North Norfolk, Africa Alive is a great zoo too, in Kessingland. I would have suggested a boat on the broads for a few hours but the OPs DC may be too small. There is a small kiddies funfair in Yarmouth called joyland, my girls loved it, even last time when the eldest was 12.

Pettits looks great, loads there and good price.
I'm not too keen on a boat on the broads although my FIL is. I might stay on dry land with the little ones or suggest the seal one instead - more likely to keep DD1 amused. My document of suggestions is looking nice and full, thanks again for all the info.

Ooh I love North Norfolk! We had all our childhood holidays at Wells.

The beach at Wells was wonderful. Also onsite were trampolines, and fantastic pinewoods to explore.

Other highlights were crabbing off Blakeney Quay, boat trips to see the seals from Blakeney, Dinosaur World, Splash at Sheringham, Sealife Centre at Hunstanton, the breakers at Cley stony beach.

I'm off to North Norfolk in a couple of weeks, so reviving this thread. I've taken notes of all the above many thanks.

Can anyone recommend any good family friendly pubs where we can eat Cromer Crab & other local specialities????? We will be staying in Docking with 2 DC, nearly 5 & 1.5.

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/08/2012 18:53

We are just back from near Cromer. I ate cromer crab at
www.villageinnwestrunton.co.uk/ and www.rockethousecafe.co.uk/. Both lovely and child-friendly. I'm sure you can get cromer crab elsewhere too!

And seal-watching at Blakeney point is fabulous. But book ahead. Very busy.

Fantastic thanks LordCopper!

Have just come back from a village next to Docking HipHop. Didn't eat out but would highly rec Brancaster and Holkham beaches, (longish walk to the latter). Hunstanton is full of fantastic seaside tack, DC loved it. Old Hunstanton beach slightly less crowded. Sea Life centre good, but take 241 vouchers, you can go in and out all day. Also try Bircham Windmill, just round the corner, only small but a handful of animals, tiny playground and the windmill to climb up, not very ££ and it went down very well. Also Snettisham Park Farm where you can go on a deer safari, not cheap but farm type demos going on all day and if you have DC you really can spend the whole day there.
