We're looking at going for a mon to fri break in October, with dd who will be two. Several other family members are going so it would be nice to meet up with them but I've seen some awful reviews on TripAdvisor and am a bit nervous? Has anyone been recently?

Awful reviews?! Where have you been looking at?!?! I've been to Whinfell 10 times in 6 & its the only place we've holidayed at.

You have a super swimming pool (free) with very warm water for babies & toddlers, gthey also have their own little whirlpool, free toys to play with in the pool, cafe there too.

In the Sports Plaza you have a main hall & they have a great soft play (about £4.50 for 2 hours) & its full of great tiys, ride ons etc. My lot have been there many times. Also have a Starbucks & Sports Cafe for meals which have many offers on & there is also a small soft play in the back - adequate for toddlers.

Lakeside in provides good food & again a large soft play.

All restaurants are family friendly. Cycles are available & they have the trailers to hire. Lovely walks, ducks, squirrels, birds & the odd pheasant!

Have you thought of going late November/December cos its worth the wait to see Father Christmas at the Winter Wonderland....trust me. The lights are beautiful & Santa's woodland workshop is fab for kiddies. You can also take a carriage ride & see real deer.

xxxx

No time to do a detailed reply but its fantastic! Trip advisor can give weird info sometimes... loads to do there, very clean and comfortable, lots of things you don't need to pay for at toddler age and some nice activities that don't cost too much. I've been several times with my 3 young kids and back again in 7 weeks time!

I've been there several times. It's brilliant! Have been with children as babies, toddlers and young children & they adored it every single time.
We had a minor issue on one occasion. I complained & they fixed it instantly. Staff were helpful & friendly.
Love it do much I'm going again this year with 5 & 7 year olds :)

Thanks for those :) Yankee its DH's uncles 70th in October so thats why we're looking at then. They live in Edinburgh, with a lot of us in Nottingham Whinfell looked about half way (ish!)

Well Mibby, if you like it in October book again for next year & you can take your LO to see Santa. Using the CBSOON code you get the best price from them & £25.00 vouchers & free insurance & and if the price goes lower than what you originally paid they refund you the difference!

Oh & if you pop to Morrisons in Penrith for your shopping you'll save a few ££. The Parc Market is very well stocked but a bit dearer than your Tesco/Asda/Morrisons.

Thank you very much for that Yankee. Have been talking to the grandparents today so looks like we're all going :)

I agree with the other posters - it's great. Took DS when he was 2 and a half, he loved it. Activities I would recommend are messy play, owl babies and swimming, though there is loads more to choose from. We are going again in Sep and I can't wait!!!

Mibby - sorry should have explained better - the code is valid for 28 days after you come home.....doh choccy brain!
